Zales lost my wedding ring during polishing

Hi guys,

Thank you for all your replies. I chose not to have them shipped because stuff has been known to get lost in the mail where I live and the "import tax" would be astronomical anyway. I would prefer in person pick up so that I can look at the rings and tell straight away if they are mine. Another option like you said is have a friend/family member pick them up and mail the other ones back, but if they get lost in the mail I don't want to have to pay for Zales' mistake.

We have a friend visiting us in Europe in a few days and I am considering asking him to pick up the rings and return the other ones when he gets back but I am not sure if it is the best solution because what if there is the slightest problem with the rings (aka not my rings, damaged rings, etc)?

The staff at that store knows we live out of the country for work and they assured us the rings would remain in the safe until we come back (after the new year, which, I know, is a long way away).

Do you still think it is unsafe to leave them there and just call the store regularly to make sure they still have them?

Any advice/experience appreciated!

If they were my rings I would want to see them up close & personal for my own inspection & not leave that up to a friend or
family member. You would be the only one to know if the rings have changed in any way & you want to be satisfied .
I would request an e-mail for confirmation that the rings will be in Zales safe until your return which may be several months.
Don't take any chances as the last thing you want to hear from Zales is they don't assume responsibility for items held in their
safe over a period of time.
The "don't worry" or they "are safe" from a sales associate doesn't sit well with me for rings that have sentimental value.
You should request a more formal notification perhaps with a photo of your rings to make sure that they are indeed your rings
that are in their safe. You don't want to leave anything to chance.
Just saying......
