YSL forum dead?

I was thinking about starting a similar post. It’s been really quiet on the boards lately. I think the economy has a lot to do with it. YSL had a huge price increase right when it was one of the most popular brands. It had just recently climbed to the top so I feel it was too soon for such a drastic increase. At the same time, they removed their bags from department stores and stopped sales. Mistake. People moved on. I kept my collection because I love the bags that I have, but I won’t be buying more. I’ve actually went back to coach and I’m loving their price and designs.

Also, I spend a lot of time on social media and it’s driven by Gen Z who wants affordable contemporary designs.
Yes - on one hand its would've been nice if those changes really added to the exclusivity of the brand but it seems to have backfired. I am also disappointed that tassels are out haha I mean I know trends come and go but I thought of my camera bags as timeless but I can't remove the tassel from the mini Lou and I did remove the tassel on my larger Lou camera bag but it feels more boring ha.

Yep, I've noticed it pretty quiet in here for a while. So I thought maybe YSL as a brand was losing popularity...but it still shows up pretty high on the Lyst index, so maybe it's as Vlad says, just that tPF overall is getting less traffic. Which is too bad - if more people are moving to "instant gratification" type media like IG and TikTok, I think it's sadly indicative of a kind of "quick fix" mentality vs the depth of knowledge and experience I enjoy here at tPF.

Re: your toy Loulou - I used mine as my daily bag for over 4 years and LOVED her! But also like you I got to a point where it wasn't serving my needs anymore. I got a bigger phone that didn't fit and my wardrobe colors evolved so my teal Loulou clashed with the majority of my outfits. So if it no longer serves, I'd say let it go, especially since you have a Chanel WOC that serves a similar purpose. I see some coming up on resale and the current prices for preloved are what I paid for new - seems like it's still holding popularity for now.

The camera bag is a great bag too! Maybe it feels a bit yawn/played out, but it's more practical and can hold more that either the Loulou or a WOC so depending on your needs and what else is in your collection it might be a keeper. Imho, a camera style bag is just a classic.
This was helpful to read! I loved my toy Lou Lou as well and she is black on black stealth mode. However; if I'm going to switch out of SLG's and wear a smaller black bag - I just don't reach for her. She is good in theory and versatile but not for my current lifestyle.

My local NM has YSL, and there's an independent boutique in the mall a few stores down, interestingly!

Don't sell the toy loulou unless it annoys you. It's such a great bag! And they are so cute!!! I didn't use mine for a long time bc my phone wouldn't fit, but after I got a smaller phone it was LOVE! How big / what is inside the usual SLGs that you are wanting to take?

YSL, to me, before, was a relatively good value luxury brand that was classic and casual but dressy. I still enjoy the designs but I think I have been out priced--or maybe all their price increases and lack not "deals" have put me off. Also, I feel like part of why I liked the brand more previously is that they had bags that were "new classics"--but after they changed the loulou design I felt like maybe YSL does not have any "classic" bags any more. I might as well spend more for a "classic" bags or less for a "not classic but classic looking" bag.

I have seen some good deals at the department stores but in the last year or so most of the good deal I've seen are usually designs / colors / materials I am not keen on.

Maybe my tastes have changed though. I started leaning towards more "fun" bags and less "classy" bags. Or maybe I've overspent on fun bags that these is no money left for classy bags.

Anyway, I still love my YSL bags but I haven't bought any new ones lately. Maybe if I sold some of my less used bags I would consider getting another YSL bag if one really tempted me. Or if a bag I regret not getting pops up I might be tempted.

Personally, I haven't bought anything YSL for a while. Oh wait, I got two pebbled envelopes in 2023? Then nothing.

This year I mainly focused on the Murakami collaboration with Louis Vuitton. So I've always been on that forum. Louis Vuitton came out with so many interesting bags this year.

No. I don't plan on getting anything YSL. And every time I pass by my YSL store, I don't see any activity there either. So I guess that reflects here.

Besides, the world economy is pretty gruesome, so.....

People are now into Hermes. Social media, influencers, celebrities…Next month can be another brand.

YSL used to be my favourite brand, but since it changed to SL, all the bags look the same with the logo on the front. It looks like I am always wearing the same bag in different color/size.

Love the ready to wear.

Same. I joke that Murakami but me on ban island to 2030. Cats are sneaky though so maybe some small Catogram items will sneak into ban island. So yeah, basically no YSL bags for me bc the budget was already spent and then some.

Yup… suffering the same treatment that Mercedes is going through. Talk about a horrendous generation of cars. 😵

I have mixed feelings about this. I’ve lost interest in the Saint Laurent era and have fallen back in love with vintage and near-vintage YSL which is great buying in the resale market. Just bought two downtown totes and eyeing an arty ring.

I’d love to find me a vintage Roady bag. Haven’t looked in a while. Last time I did, I thought the prices were a little on the high side. Maybe its time to look again & see if they’re more on par with other luxury bags from the same era

The last time I visited the store was empty altough it was christmas time in a very tourist place.

There were queu in LV and Hermes, but the rest of the shops were deserted.

I got a pair of Aquazzura shoes that I had been watching many months ago, and they were all the sizes available yet.

I remember when the Easy was released and there was a very long wait list. Also with the Roady as it had appeared in Gossip girl series.

Tribute sandals were 600 euros and now they are 1000. Sales are not going well but the prices keep increasing.

SL is not Hermes, which can do whatever they want with his wealthy clients( even treat them bad)
