Could you update with pictures after you have the leather repaired? My blogger bag also started turning bronze but I have not had time to send it to be looked at. I contacted YSL and they said they would do repairs from authorized retailers and mine was purchased through a Euro site so I don't think it applies (I can't remember which one; either Selfridges, Italist or Farfetch.)
Yes, I’ll post the results. I sent it out over the weekend. I can’t wait to get it back.

Here’s the after! I’m happy because the bag is black again, but it seems a little dull to me. Maybe it will develop a sheen as I wear it. I’m too scared to try leather conditioner just yet.

This thread has been very helpful to me. My black Medium College bag started to exhibit “bronzing” after a couple of wears. You can see a metallic color coming through. This is a defect that happens when the bag is not dyed properly. When I contacted YSL regarding this, they tried to say it was wear and tear. The bag was purchased from Century21 so they won’t repair it anyway. This has led me to believe that YSL knowingly sells defective bags to unauthorized retailers and that’s why they won’t repair them. This is the only YSL bag that I didn’t purchase directly from them or a major department store and it’s the only one that has an issue. I got a good deal on the bag so I will be sending it to Leather Surgeons to correct the bronzing issue. They told me that once it’s fixed, it’s not likely to happen again.
Thanks for your post. The part about unauthorized retailers getting defective bags or seconds makes sense since I've wondered how you can get current YSL bags at discount places for hundreds of dollars less. I think other luxury brands either burn them or sell them to employees but I guess with YSL, there is a secondary gray market.

Hi all. I am going through something similar and wanted to share my experience. I found my Sac de Jour in 2017 and it is one of the original 2013 models. I love it, and hardly wore it. However, as they are known to do, it had started to lose its shape.

Being a beautiful navy smooth leather, and since I did not originally buy it, I understood that YSL would not restore it for me. So I took it to 'Lovin My Bags', who had done quite a lot of cleaning and fixing of other items for us previously, and till now, good work.

Upon seeing its 'restoration', while the structure was back, I simply didn't recognize the bag. The color was muted, and the bag was matte. It was also glittery all over with some kind of metallic spray. We thought it must be someone elses bag!

Apparently, that is now fixed. However, there are now considerable wrinkles in the handles, near where they meet the attachments. Apparently, that is somehow to do with 'reinforcements' and is not now fixable. (photos attached) I am yet to pick it up and am asking them if they can do something. Apparently, the wrinkles go when you lift it (before it never had such an issue at all). I guess I will never place it on a table again, then! haha!

I really have no idea what they have done to this bag, but it's clearly far too much. I just wish YSL would let you pay for repairs as long as it's a genuine item.

Here are the photos. It took me over two years of other work to even trust them with this bag!

1: prior to work - you can see the bag needs some structural help, or 'restoration' which is what I requested and cleaning to remove grease etc, as required.

2. Full "restoration" : (you can see some wrinkles here too)

3. "Fixed" color showing wrinkled handles looking worse:

The color does look better, at least in the photos... but if they can't fix the handles, I think I may regret it now!
