Hello All,

I just purchased my first YSL bag, and was wondering what their customer service was like on things like repair of 'defects' and such. I'm hoping the quality of the bag will hold up for years and years, but in cases where there is peeling or cracking of the glazing, will they repair free of charge?

They repaired my camera bag free of charge.

Does anyone know if they also repair YSL bags (preferably also free of charge) that were purchased from other retailers?

They only do it if you purchased new from an authorized retailer. I recently purchased a bag from Fashionphile that had a defect that broke the D ring connecting the strap. YSL requires proof of purchase from them or their authorized retailers to repair. I was told they have a 2 year warranty on their leather goods. I ended up sending my bag off to Rago Brothers to get fixed since I love it. I highly recommend factoring in any repairs in to any "savings" you may get by buying second hand. In hindsight, I would have spent the extra $500 to not deal with the drama of getting repairs.

Is there a list of authorized retailers? I can't seem to locate that. I agree that it's better to just buy new/direct in the event of repairs. I've been eyeing sales on Lou Lous but I'm debating just buying directly in case there is an issue with quality.

I don’t know if there’s a list.
You can email Saint Laurent customer service to check if the store you want to buy from is an authorized retailer. I did this before purchasing from a luxury retailer, I was able to receive an email response after a week or two.

Okay so my CA said that repairs are covered for free for 2 years. Usually things like popped stitches, cracked glazing or any kind of malfunction that should not happen.
After that, they will still take in items for repair, there will just be a fee.
This covers for all YSL flagship stores as well as any Saint Laurent stores inside department stores like Saks, Bloomingdale’s, etc.

Hope that helps!

This thread has been very helpful to me. My black Medium College bag started to exhibit “bronzing” after a couple of wears. You can see a metallic color coming through. This is a defect that happens when the bag is not dyed properly. When I contacted YSL regarding this, they tried to say it was wear and tear. The bag was purchased from Century21 so they won’t repair it anyway. This has led me to believe that YSL knowingly sells defective bags to unauthorized retailers and that’s why they won’t repair them. This is the only YSL bag that I didn’t purchase directly from them or a major department store and it’s the only one that has an issue. I got a good deal on the bag so I will be sending it to Leather Surgeons to correct the bronzing issue. They told me that once it’s fixed, it’s not likely to happen again.

Could you update with pictures after you have the leather repaired? My blogger bag also started turning bronze but I have not had time to send it to be looked at. I contacted YSL and they said they would do repairs from authorized retailers and mine was purchased through a Euro site so I don't think it applies (I can't remember which one; either Selfridges, Italist or Farfetch.)
