The Rally investing concept makes sense for the classic cars, which I think is where it started. Let's say you have a 1965 Shelby GT350 R-model. There aren't that many (maybe 36 or 37 were made) and by definition there can be no more (it no longer being 1965). It WILL appreciate, at what rate you cannot know. If you love classic cars (I do) you might find this a fun thing to invest in, since that's a VERY hard car to own and in order to keep its value you'd have to garage it anyway. I still don't think any financial advisor would recommend it, but you are looking at a nearly one of a kind item with sex appeal. (OK, I really like cars...)

I am sorry (sorry/not sorry lol) to say that Birkin is not one of a kind. You might need to be connected to buy it, and VVVIP to order it, but it's not a unicorn and they will continue to be made and sold in stores. I just hope the people "investing" understand that.

By the way, am I wrong for thinking it isn’t a terrible valuation for that bag? Brand new in the store would cost a lot more. Maybe a bit less because 35s are less popular now? Of course, we don’t know how old it is, do we?

ETA: not commenting on whether this is a good idea - it’s definitely not for me!

Is it that much less than retail? Porosus 30s are about $50K, so what's retail on a 35? If they bought this five years ago and are now doing this investment vehicle thing, that's SO shady!

I’m not an exotic expert but from the pricing thread it looks like a B30 would be around $48k so $52k for a B35 seems about right for retail, no?

When my friend purchased a matte noir B35 about a year or two ago the retail price was $65k (I was with her when she bought it).
The year of this bag is definitely important - funny how that’s not mentioned???

Apparently 2015. You got me curious and I downloaded the Rally App ... they do give more details on the app at least.

Also looks like next up is a Himalayan B30 from 2014, going for 140k (70 per share x 2000 shares).

I’m just going to leave this screenshot here...
