Tempting as it was I just cant do final sale. Im not willing to risk something not working. I got good enough prices when I placed an order with them a few weeks ago when most of it was returnable.

I'm new to yoox, and I bought a few things right before the sample sale... a Dolce and Gabbana coat and jacket. The sister jacket to the one I bought (which I debated buying also) was still available in the sample sale as a final sale for the exact same price. So no benefit to waiting for the sample sale for D&G coats and suits.

On the other hand, I noticed some of the accessory-type pieces for some of the high end designers, as well as some of the lower end designers were marked down quite a lot during this sale, for some pretty cheap prices. What was really amazing to me was watching the buying patterns for this stuff, and wondering who was buying. For example Stella McCartney was pretty much the same deal as Dolce and Gabbana- her big stuff like dresses and coats etc were not marked down much. But a few t-shirt type items and one group of white jeans were marked down to $35 and under, a steal. I noticed the white SM jeans were available in every size and by the time I added a few other items to my card (and re-logged in due to site issues), all sizes of those jeans were sold out. I think the buyer might have been an ebay reseller because the entire group was taken out, in about 15 mins.

I bought a wool and cashmere coat (brand name "Mary Jane") that I saw a few weeks ago on yoox for slightly under $200 I think. Then it was $145 a week ago, and in this sale it was marked down to $115, so what the heck. I was going to buy a fleurette wool coat at Nordstrom for next year (they go for about $400 on sale)- so I'll see how this looks, there aren't too many sizing issues with wool coats.

Love that yoox doesn't charge CA tax... for now.

I think the smartest way to use Yoox is to have a dreambox and monitor those items - yes, some are reduced, and some are not. But by knowing the pieces you truly want you can keep an eye on the prices. That's what I did and ended up with the items I wanted and knew when the prices went down...

Yoox is selling Laura Biagiotti and Claude Montana stuff, I haven't heard those names since 1992 (I'm dating myself - I know)- I wonder how old those are and if those designers are still alive :amuse:

They have some vintage inventory, Tierry Mugler, Chanel, Dior boutique and such.

Yup - they will definitely tell you if it's vintage. For everything else, Yoox is typically anywhere from two to three seasons behind. I've monitored a lot of stuff on Yoox vs. when they appeared on the runway.

It usually sticks around for a while...after 6 months or so, they remove it off of the site.

thanks - I'll keep an eye on some of my items. Lots of things in my dreambox were marked down for the sample sale, but didn't sell- they weren't marked down enough. I don't expect further reductions but it will be interesting to see what happens.

Wow, this is really disappointing. Nothing I was tracking came down in price for the No Returns final sale, except one sweater that came down $5 and I was tracking 30+ items. This is putting me off of Yoox...
