YG or WG

I think a lot of it depends on the person and what they look best in. It can also depend on the stone in the piece, as I think stones like sapphires and aquamarines look better in white metals.

However, I wear almost exclusively YG. It looks better with my skin tone and it never has a coating that can wear away and it cannot be mistaken for SS. The fact always remains that no matter what the combination to attempt to make gold look white, pure gold is always yellow. With 18K, they have 25% of the combination to try to make it look white, and that just doesn't make much sense to me. Gold IS yellow and I don't like the idea of making it into something it's not.

I agree with this, I just think it makes sense for gold to actually be gold. Having said that no offense to lovers of WG, I have some too and I love it, but I will always prefer YG.

I'm a WG girl for sure. It's a curse because it's harder to find purses with WG hardware and I HAVE to match my metals.
Me too!!:p

I love the idea of yellow gold, but yellow/rose tones doesn't suit my skin in the way white metals do. I swoon when I see the likes of Kourtney K's YG Cartier collection what with her double Loves and Santos watch! So my advice would be think about how the ring will suit you and your lifestyle. If you like it and you're happy with the WG then don't be put off simply because you're not used to WG. Are you happy to mix metals? It might be kind of nice to have that pop of white amongst all your yellow! On the subject of the Kardashians haha, Khloe, Kris and most recently Kim often mix yellow pieces like watches with their white wedding sets etc if you're looking for some inspiration on how mixing pieces looks.

Ultimately, if you're unsure about whether you'll wear it in the long term I'd say return it, because I don't think you should buy/keep anything you have doubts about now. Only buy what you 100% love!

I wear mostly white metals. I have cool undertones to my skin (I'm very blonde & very fair), so a silver color looks best on me. I also wear rose gold, but that looks good on everyone (whether warm or cool toned).

I usually wear WG/silver in the summer with PHW handbags/shoes and YG in the winter with GHW handbags/shoes. This way I recycle all the jewelry and handbags and seem to get more wear out of everything. Go figure!!!

This is a great idea!

I have both yellow and white metals, but usually wear white.

Maybe this winter I will wear my yellow pieces much more often. :smile1:

I started off wearing only yg then transitioned to wearing both and acquiring a few TT pieces then went strictly to all wg (actually shunned anything yg and either gave away or sold all of my yg pieces - oh vey!) and though my wed ring is plat and my everyday RHR is plat, I'm starting to wear more yellow gold (this could be due to my getting a yg LOVE bracelet a couple years ago)......rg doesn't seem to suit my skin tone though I think it is gorgeous.
