Well, this thread got me curious, so I dug a little.
I have not hunting coach for two years, - and I love the bargain hunt - but when I did, this is what I figured out - might have changed. They have 4 inventory databases.
- Retail store
- Online retail
- Outlet stores
- Online factory outlet
Usually the retail store and online retail can pull from each other. The Online Factory Outlet can check the online factory database and if a bag is not on the current sale, they wont sell it to you. I had a Caroline I loved and it was damaged out when I sent it in for repair. About a year later, somehow I figured out the online outlet database had it, but it was not on a sale. The woman would NOT sell it to me. Even for full price, but then, I said, i had it and it was damaged out. She looked it up and saw I had bought it and let me buy it. I had asked about bag at the outlet stores multiple times, so it was only in that FOS database. (And, yes, we are all having the same thought right now --- what else is in that database.
)
So anyway, the guy told me when I bought my bag today, there were 6 bags left. I called the outlet back later on and was told there are none in the system. I also called the website and was told they have none. Then, I called the retail store and was told there are less than 10 in the system. So, I assume the bag was pulled from the retail inventory. Whether it's on the way to becoming a delete, I doubt it, since, no other bags were taken off the website. I assume it sold out online and there are a few at retail stores.
They emailed me a receipt, so I have it, I assume the bag will show up since, they sold it to me and i suspect they will honor it, even if they figure out a mistake was made.
It will be interesting to see where the bag comes from.
I wish I liked the new designs more because I had this coach hunting down to a science. Maybe the 1941 line will blossom into a line I love.
Stay tuned, I'll post what happens.
