For me, it depends on the piece.

I feel yellow gold brings a nice warmth to white pearls. For black pearls, I like white gold.

Peridot is my birthstone. I like those with yellow gold.

Those are pretty much the exceptions... for all other gems, I like them in white gold.

I think you can totally mix up white/yellow gold pieces... do what you like, it's nice to not always be matchy-matchy all the time!

I like diamonds set in white gold but the rest of my jewelry in yellow gold. I feel that it looks much better on my skin. I also love the look of H Stern's Noble gold. It's a "warmer" sort of WG :)

I like both as well as rose gold. I currently have more pieces in white gold but I want to add earrings, a bracelet and a ring in yellow gold. I have a Cartier tank f. with the two tone stainless steel and yellow gold band so I think some pieces in yellow gold would go nicely with that.

I've seen a Cartier ring in rose gold that has me obsessed....

My preference has flip-flopped over the years. But, 90% of the jewelry I own now is white gold. So, at least for the past 10 years, I've preferred white over yellow.

one of my sisters wears some sterling silver & her wedding set is in platinum, but it doesn't look as good on her as YG does. I believe that she chose platinum because EVERYONE was selecting white metals at the time...I think she'll regret it long term. my mom & my other sister wear mostly YG. they both have silver things that they wear from time to time, but YG is what they choose for their fine jewelry.

My wedding band is yellow gold with a princess cut diamond. It is gorgeous but over the years my taste has changed. If I were to get one now I would get the band in platinum. I think the platinum shows off the diamonds much better. You can always get a ring for your other hand in yellow gold:D

I have both, but mostly wear white. Diamonds do look good in white gold but a lot of stones look better in yellow. I have 4 diamond bangles 2 wg/2 yg...makes it easy to wear either color on that hand.

i only wear white gold or platinum for everything except my cartier love bracelet, which is specifically wanted rose gold. i wanted it to stand out more and not blend in with my other white gold/platinum jewelry. but overall, i prefer white gold.
