Yachtmaster or AirKing?

I felt the same way - too much going on. I only became curious about it because a friend was looking at them. I'm so in love with the 34mm size. I wish I could have it today!

I'm also happy that for once in my life - I chose the less expensive item! I really love the Air King. Now it is saving time and shopping for the best bargain. This particular jeweler has a $400 coupon but I think I could do better. Perhaps I can get 15% off. The $400 is around 10% off but then there is sales tax.

try to find a store with the midsize yachtmaster before you make up your mind. the 35 is obviously closer in size to the AK and looks much different in a 35. I agree that there looks like there is too much going on when you squeeze it all into a 29. JMHO>

OK Rockerchic! I will definitely be thorough and locate the mid-size YM. I love yours and you make a good point. I don't want to be impulsive. The YM is an amazing watch. But it will take me longer to save for. True - it is only 1mm bigger than Air King - 35 vs 34!

And actually the dial is smaller than the Air King because the Yachtmaster bezel is wider! :graucho:

I love mine more and more each day so I can't help being a proponent for it! I think it is really a clean looking fresh watch with bezel and face in platinum and ss bracelet. I honestly don't think it looks busy at all.

Hokoplan, have you considered a pre-owned rolex so you don't have to wait?? My husband has one and he has worn it for 10 years, when we were at the watch store looking at watches for me they offered him more than he paid, not bad to be paid to wear a rolex for ten years!!

tdha - We have a Tourneau at our local mall that does sell pre-owned. I will take a look next time I go. I guess it is a hot or miss. But I really think I prefer new. Right now, I just want to try on any mid-size YM!

i personally like the air king, mainly because it's what i want, and because it's more classic and simple. i think a style like that is timeless (no pun intended).

i am specifically looking for a vintage one myself.

I really loved the Air King when I tried it on. The store has a layaway plan but I'm afraid in this economy. I'm afraid to make payments and not have the watch and then store can close overnight. So I will wait and save until summer and just dream until then........

that is so funny because i felt the same way when i saw this gorgeous vintage air king a few months ago and it was only $1,400—great condition but the business seemed shady, imo. i didn't want to chance it because i was also contemplating putting it on layaway. i mean, big box stores are closing (i.e. circuit city, bailey, banks & biddle, et al), so it's scary when these mom & pop stores are still open. makes you second-guess a purchase like that.

I have other watches to wear in the meantime. I always love having a future purchase to look forward to and make as a goal to save for. That is what I did with my Cartier Love and a couple LVs and other watches. It helps me to not to buy the small miscellaneous stuff knowing that I will have a "forever" item in 6 months or so. Also, I loved the Air King last summer when I tried it on my "tan' arm with short sleeves. Now with temps in the single digits, I'm wearing 2 shirts and 2 hoodies - no one can even see which watch I have on! LOL!
