I'm helping a friend choose and I don't know which direction to steer her in. I have a ladies two-tone and a ss mid-size jubilee/fluted - one with roman numerals and other with diamond markers. But I don't know much about the two she is considering. Recently there have been some new rolex threads esp. with yachtmaster. Which model can be worn for 20 years and still look in style? No one has any new threads on the airking lately. TIA!

There is a world of difference between the Yacht-Master and the Air-King! The YM is a higher end watch, whereas the AK is more of an "entry level" watch. The AK has no date and both are available in limited styles. I have the YM midsize in steel and platinum. It has a rotatable bezel for timing and the cyclops date feature. The YM is the only "sports" watch that Rolex makes for women. It is available in steel/yellow gold or steel/platinum. The AK is only available in steel, I believe... not sure if you can get a white gold bezel on an AK. The AK is probably a bit slimmer in dial profile since the YM has the rotating bezel.

Well, I have to agree that Airking is an entry level Rolex as it's cheaper. But you can wear airking when you dress up or when you want a casual look (just like dayjust). Yachtmaster is sportier and definitely look better than Airking. I just find airking a bit boring compare to Yachtmaster.

I think unless your wrists are tiny you should get the 35mm. It is better suited to the watch and more on trend. I agree with the poster who said that this style really needs to be closer to the midsize to look right, although ladies with a very small wrist can pull of the 29mm (but I can't!). The chunky dial and the sporty nature of this one needs that "boost" of size on most people...and looks fabulous in the 35!

Surprisingly, after looking at both the YM and Air King, believe it or not , I preferred Air King. Now the store I went to - only had the ladies YM which was way too small. Maybe my opinion would be different if I was comparing the mid-size YM next to the Air King. I totally love the YM on others. But for me, I like the clean lines and simplicity of the AK. I also love the size of 34mm. The 29mm YM is extremely small and doesn't do it for me. So my plan is to save for the AK which will take a lot less time than saving for the YM! LOL!
