Do you mean particular bags or silhouettes? I understood your post to mean silhouette, but I could be wrong.

Silhouettes:
1. Top handle
2. Tote
3. Flap
4. Hobo
5. Satchel
Bonus: clutch

Corresponding Bags (less sure of some of these):
1. Kelly
2. LV Neverfull
3. Chanel Classic Flap
4. Dior Bobby Bag
5. Birkin
Bonus: Bottega Veneta Knot Clutch

I'm not a big fan of several of the bags I listed, but they are the ones that immediately spring to mind.

on silhouettes : I’d like to add Saddle bags you know the half moon with a Crossbody leather strap example The Dior Bobby.

i preffer focusing on this classic silhouettes and patterns rather than a specific bag name with silhouettes And patterns it works better for every women‘s budget to find a classic style that will look good as long as they have that bag.

1) Ladies who lunch - elegant, slightly fussy, with the best materials.

2) Sporting events and travel - durable and stain-resistant

3) weddings, funerals and going to court - elegant enough to show you respect the occasion, discreet enough to not make the occasion about you

4) red carpet, charity ball - impractical and extravagant. Everyone is over the top and you want to be memorable in a good way

5) Work - big enough for a laptop and paper files, small enough to not break your back. Lavish enough that the clients appreciate it, discrete enough that your manager doesn’t.

And bonus 6) Summer holidays - carefree, fun, durable, joyful.

And since you asked about silhouettes, I picked iconic bags that have been made continuously for at least a decade, that are iconic and recognizable:

1) Hermes Kelly, Chanel Flap. A smaller sized Lady Dior. Gucci Bamboo top handle bag.

2) LV Speedy or Alma. Hermes Garden Party. Prada Nylon.

3) Chanel 2.55, Valtrexa Iside, Hermes Victoria.

4) Judith Leiber Minaudiere, Gucci jeweled velvet Dionysus, Embellished miniature fabric versions of 1-3.

5) Depends on where you work and sartorial standards. Black Birkin. Celine Luggage. Prada Saffino. Honorable mention to the Saint Laurent Sac du Jour who is still a little young to be considered iconic.

And most of these are retired or new but: 6) Galliano for Dior, Hermes Trim or Picotin, Loewe Basket bag, Dior Book Tote.

To me there are seven that can't be ignored.

Kelly/top-handle trapezoid bag, optional strap

Birkin/Sac de Jour/Ricky/Saffiano/etc/satchel-style tote with double handles

Bolide/Alma/etc/top-handle rounded bag, optional strap

Classic flap/2.55/etc/rectangular flap bag with turnlock and strap, usually chain strap, often quilted

Trim/Gucci Jackie/Veneta/etc/slim rounded shoulder bag usually with top zip (the Veneta is more a hobo but I think it counts)

Dior Saddle/Colorado/Harnais/etc/classic saddle bag shape with shoulder strap

Speedy/Vuitton SC/etc/duffel bag with strap

All of these except the Birkin have been around a long time, most since the 50s at least, some since the 20s (Bolide) and 30s (Kelly), and almost every designer makes a version of these styles. I think the Birkin makes it in because, again, it's hard to look at almost any designer collection and not see a bag in that general shape and style.

Honorable mention to baguette bags which I'm not sure have fully stood the test of time despite the Fendi classic.
