So...

We are one of those birkins lovers...who have YET to score on any Bs..not even the 25! Uhuh...sad sad story...

Now..the itch is on..and no Bs in sight.

What would you settle for?
A Kelly?
A Lindy?
A Victoria?
A Evelyn?
Or.......

Above mentioned, as not as if IT IS readily available, BUT... really...what would you do?

WAIT PATIENTLY for your Beloved B? and settle for nothing less?
Or...just go ahead...buy what is avail...

I havent seen or heard much about a VICTORIA.

I do like it really...I can pass down to my Li'l Victoria in due time :graucho:

**What would you do..............considering you have yet to own any Bs...**

I don't think any of those bags are 'settling', in fact many prefer them over a B, so they are wonderful in their own right and serve great purposes. In general, I wouldn't settle just because I was feeling impatient-- then something better always comes along and you regret settling!

Thanks gymangel812 and lamborghinigirl...!

You both are so right about this...patiance goes a long way, and it is true, nothing will satisfy the craving of a B eventually.

A chocolate is never like a pc of chocolate fudge cake, no matter how many you eat.

None of those bags functions in the same way as a Birkin (open top hand held tote), so if the only style of bag that you want is the Birkin, none of these will work. I know there are ladies out there that carry only Birkins or only Kellys, but most of us like a little variety since the Birkin doesn't suit every occasion or location. So if one of these other bags serves a particular need that the Birkin wouldn't, then definitely get it AND the Birkin whenever it finally shows up.

I agree! They r not settling...I'm just getting more n more IN LOVE with H. Think about them at any spare moments available. DH even asked me "how could u enjoy so much from spending whole days online browsing for H?!" lol!!!

bbcats...!!!

I get the same comments from my DH too!!!
And I've been studying about H and its bags for the longest time ever...yet...still wana know more! :graucho:

Nothing can ever replace a B...as for the rest..I believe it's just a thrill and encouragement to get "there".

But it is also right to say that each of H bags are designed and carved for different purpose and occasions...so I guess...if $$$ is not the issue..heck it...why consider?!

BUT...if $$ is the issue...then..........................

I believe that the longer you wait...the more expensive it'll be... and before everything else gets over-priced...why not just grab what is available first? Yes? No? :thinkin:

U r so right! The longer u wait the more expensive...n I want to add the less possibility of getting it...I'm now soooo regret that I didn't had my name put on the waiting list when it was still open 10 yrs ago for the reason that I will wait until I got the money...I should have put down my name n if I'm still not ready when H called me...I could always pass n wait for the next turn so at least I'll still be on the list....=_=

don't ever settle. it never works, be patient or by through resellers.

I totally agree with this-on many levels, not just with H....mentally, you know you have selected less than what you wanted and so you will never be satisfied.....people have done this with mates....it has worked for some, but mostly not worked for others....patience really is a virtue at times.....

So now...

Talking about almost immediate obsession and possession, yet such uncertainty about obtaining a B from Paris...
How much MORE would you pay from the re-seller route?

Resellers are known to have mark-up about $3000-$6000 per H Birkin, and to be honest, rather to pay for that kinda mark-up...might as well use that difference and buy other stuff from FSH and *cross fingers* hope that a sweet SA will offer you a B or K after all the mass purchase... Right? Hmmmm.....

Yes that's right. I would rather spend the money in H-store building relationship with the SA and wait patiently rather than purchasing from resellers and having uneasy feeling whether the bag is real or fake. :) this is just what I have been thinking. Just be patient and you will surely get your dream bag one day! :)

If you are patient, you can find pristine B's for a markup of 1.5-3.5k. The only flaw in your rationale is that 3-6k spent at FSH definitely does not guarantee a B, let alone in the color and leather and hardware you desire.

:goodpost: couldn't agree more.

Maybe reseller is the way to go, but its not so bad waiting to get your first at a store. The smell everytime i walk in transports me back to that day! You never know, establishing a relationship with an SA or SM may not take that long. Or taking the chance at the right time at FSH. It's worth a shot, especially since you've waited this long.

This link is to my favorite PF thread ever. It is from the general forum, not Hermes, but I think the observations still apply. A consistent piece of advice is that you should only buy a bag if you love it. If you buy a bag for some other reason (settle) it never satisfies the craving for the original bag.

http://forum.purseblog.com/handbags...just-starting-handbag-collections-696396.html

In your position, I would buy a bag from a trusted reseller after getting it authenticated. To me, accepting whatever Birkin Hermes (maybe) eventually offered me would be settling if it was not exactly the size, leather, color, hardware I wanted.

But I don't need my bags to be perfect. In fact, it takes the stress off carrying them if someone else has put the first mark on them. I agree that you can find them for 1,500-3,000 over retail unless you want never carried in the latest hot color. But if you want the latest hot color, you may never get it from H. I personally don't like the idea of buying stuff just to get someone to maybe sell me something. I would rather pay the reseller premium to get it now.

It really all depends of what your priorities are.
