omg, keep your J12, and save for the rolex. No matter how long it takes you, as some of the forum members here say, rolex is a classic no matter how many years has passed by.

I would sell the J12 for a Rolex. Sorry, I am not a fan of J12 although I appreciate ceramic watches (Rado - popular for its ceramic watches but cost a fraction of J12).

Remember Rolex prices goes up yearly, sometimes twice a year.

Well the 2 yr. old in me is mad that you all are voicing reasonable thoughts and not enabling my - as usual- knee jerk want. I appreciate that!! Makes me step back and truly think about what I want to do. I am soooo not a patient person and 'saving up' is a very hard concept for me :). Thanks so much for helping me, at least, take my time with the decision.

Bagaday - I think most of us have one or two or a small collection ;) of watches. I don't wear the same watch everyday, and I like having a little variety (same with bags :graucho:). Really nice watches aren't cheap, so you really have to think harder about how/why you buy - practicality, trend, price, resale value, etc. In the end, it's worth it to save up! Good luck with whatever you decide!

Yes, in a heartbeat. I love the J12, and it's a beautiful watch, but I don't think it can compare quality-wise with a Rolex, nor do I think it will still be in style in twenty years, whereas Rolex has proven itself as a classic. It comes down to what you love, but if it were me I would definitely go with the Rolex.

Me too. However, if you can save up for the Rolex within a short time frame (6 mos or less) then keep the J12 and get the Rolex as well.

From what I understand, J12 prices recently increased a lot! So I would definitely keep the J12 in case you regret selling it. It will cost a lot more than you initially paid to rebuy it. Save for the rolex even if it takes years. It'll be well worth the wait.

This is really true. I bought my black J12 about 3 years ago and the price has gone up a ton since then. I personally like having several watches (ok I have more than several)--I consider them a prime accessory. So, I, like Hokaplan, think if there is any way you can keep it and save for a Rolex I would.

I have both and I definitely think there is room for both in a gals wardrobe. The J12 to me is virtually indestructible and not susceptible to scratches with everyday use unlike other metal watches. I know people say it's a fashion thing but the J12 was introduced over a decade ago and is still going strong. The movement was developed in partnership with Audemars Piguet another luxury swiss watch manufacturer. BTW mine is the black 38mm auto with diamond bezel and I use it everyday and it looks as good as new. My Rolex is the 35mm bi metal yachtmaster..

hi syma, this is a really useful comparison! I wasn't aware that J12s were developed with AP.

I do love the look of the black ones but have been hesitating cos I wasn;t sure of the quality.

I have both the J12 with diamond markers, and I just received a Rolex midsize as a wedding gift. I would never trade my J12 for the Rolex! My Chanel is my favorite watch I own, and I also have 2 Cartiers, as well as a Breitling. My advice is keep the J12 & purchase the Rolex later on- they are not going anywhere! :)

I have owned a Rolex Air King for over 10 years and that is still my everyday go to watch! I don't own a J12, but I have a Toywatch look alike (because I don't want to spend the J12 price). It's a great fun/young watch, but if I really have to choose, I'll pick the Rolex Air King for sure.

:woohoo:very well said! i totally agree...

Still have the J12 but did find a Rolex that I really, really like!! I'm debating on whether I should be good girl and 'save up' or be 'naughty' which is my usual protocol.

Thanks everyone for your input!!!!

I'm agreeing with the general tone of this thread - try to keep both in your wardrobe !

I have a Rolex, and I'm preparing to get a J12 - I just couldn`t bring myself to buy a watch that was more a `fashion`piece first, and now that I have a Rolex, I can finally get a J12 ! :graucho:
