Would you Sell a Classic Flap?

I was recently thinking to sell my Beige Caviar Medium CF with GHW. I paid $5600 USD before the 2020 increase. I was offered a good quote on Fashionphile, and I still have a few weeks to decide. However, since the price increase I am hesitant. I am just worried that I might regret selling, because I would not repurchase this bag. Would you sell a classic flap?
I'm currently selling my 1986 Timeless Chanel Flap because I don't get enough use out of it. I might regret it but I'm putting the money towards a bag I will actually use rather than having one in sitting in the closet.

If you want the money for something else then sure sell it. But if you’re on the fence I’d wait a bit until you are more sure either way.

I thought about selling 3 of mine in 2021 because I never used them since Covid and got quotes from Fashionphile that were more than what I paid for them. But my husband protested - he thinks Chanel has the most aesthetically pleasing designs and said “sure you’re not using them much now bc we barely go anywhere but will you regret it in a couple years? Also with the way prices keep increasing you can always sell them later.” Turns out he was right. Once the world started opening up again we’ve been going to dinners, travelling etc.. I’m SO happy I didn’t sell them.

If I’m not using mine and it’s a good quote, I would. Do you mind me asking how much they offered? I recently got a quote on my brand new small and it was only $6k.

My jumbo hasn’t seen the light of day in years but I would never sell her. My small and medium don’t see much light either but I wear my mini all the time. Either way, I know I’ll reach for them again so I’d never sell. There are certain outfits that are elevated with the right CF and I just can’t find another designer bag that would complete the outfit the same way. I’ve purchased other bags as an alternative and in the end, I ended up purchasing the CF. I do think my Chanel collection is complete though. I probably won’t purchase another Chanel bag any time with these absurd prices.

You should wait until you’re absolutely sure. Also, someone may sell a classic because they have multiple classics so they may not miss selling one or two. Chanel price always increases so there is no rush to sell now.

Jumbo was my dream bag and although I don't carry it much I would never sell it. I bought it for £3.5k it's now over £9k. I just could not justify repurchasing at a much higher premium and the bag despite its cons still has a special place in my bag buying journey.

If you truly do not use it, sell it. Personally, I sell things I don't use. No price increases influence me. To me money in my bank account, is still better than money sitting in my wardrobe. I would rather even take a loss on something I truly don't use.
Yes, I would sell my classic flaps and have sold them,

If you would have asked 3 years ago , I would have said hell no. I sold my jumbos and maxis . I only have one of each left. They don't work for me the way they did before. My life is causal now and I like a lighter bag. I do not regret it and do not want them back at all.
The money was spent on much better things that improve my life.

I also am no longer holding onto anything in life that doesn't bring much joy. I had a jumbo that was sentimental to me I sold it last week . It served me in the past and now it doesn't , so I let it go. It is only a leather bag. I can remember it and loved wearing it, but why keep it? We keep things for later use and it often just sits gathering dust and doesn't add to our lives.
I felt brainwashed by the term classic bag, classic flap. It's just marketing to me now.

If I ever desire it again, I will by it again.
I agree with both of you. Few years ago when my friend asked me to sell her my jumbos but I said heck no, they are classic and never wanted to sell. Although I haven’t used it in years. I wanted to hold on to it bcuz of the crazy price increase and I won’t be able to get them back with the old price I purchased years ago. But then lately I changed my mind and sold all of my jumbos. Just sold the last black jumbo caviar GHW last week. I know I won’t regret it bcuz I don’t wear jumbo anymore and will never buy it back. So no regrets for me.
