Assuming i would get a quality 2 carat diamond with the non-branded setting, i would pick the non branded setting. The tiffany setting can be copied by jewelers, like it's just six prongs and low set, right? I would only pay a premium for tiffany if it was some elaborate design with lots of craftsmanship in it, like maybe something with pave diamonds on it in an interesting shape. Plus then you get to have 2 rings instead of one and you get to keep your original engagement ring which has sentimental value.
THIS! I totally agree for the exact same reasons.

I don't think the size matters. To me, if the brand is important and it makes you feel beautiful and elegant then that is what is important. Personally, I don't like HUGE rings. I would be scared to go out with it LOL! Tiffany is beautiful and timeless and if that is what makes you love it then go for it. If size is more important, then go for 2 karat. Not sure if this helps but remember that this is a ring for a lifetime. Wear it with pride not matter what you get :)

I'm in the same predicament as you! 5 years is approaching and think it's my last chance to upgrade my tiffany e ring....
I would choose no.1 for you.
For me, my husband is v sentimental and no one around us (Australia) really upgrades... Ring was originally bought in the a States though.. So I think upgrade is not an option for me. I will just buy another ring from tiffany for 5 years obviously not going to get a big stone but I really love Tiffany and also don't want to upset my husband over it... I am planning on getting the Soleste setting... So beautiful!
Anyway assuming your partner does not care either way I woukd go number 1. I think you will continue to reach for your original ring after you get the bigger non branded stone... Good luck n let us know what you end up getting!!

I would go with option #2. You will still have the original tiffany ring with the sentimental values. And, also a new 2+ carat ring or even going up to 3 carats. Both pieces will carry their own story. Vatche U113 is a similar setting to the tiffany setting at a value price. Or Victor Canera Gabriella six prong is another similar setting (high quality).
