Would you purchase a stainless steel watch if you wear only yellow gold jewellery?

I have a two-tone Rolex and a stainless steel that I just bought. I LOVE both and definitely do not think two-toned is an 80s or 90s thing -- it's a ROLEX!!! Look into the Rolexforum and see all the NEW two-toned watches that people just got. Very popular now because many cannot afford the solid gold and choose the two-tone as it is the classic iconic Rolex.

I wear gold jewellery but my watch is a stainless steel/WG Rolex. I wear it daily with YG & RG love rings, trinity ring and YG love bracelets..

I Looove how the watch makes it "okay"/ more casual for daily wear to work and doesn't stand out too much ;)

This is an excellent topic -- thanks for creating this thread! I have the opposite dilemma. I almost always wear white gold and have a SS Rolex but I do have a couple YG pieces that I like wearing every once in a while (gold hoop earrings, Helen Ficalora initial pendant, Hermes enamel bracelet) but don't want to wear it with my SS watch.

I actually inherited a YG Rolex watch but it's not really to my taste (it has diamonds around the face and I would prefer just solid gold) and I don't want to fork out a ton of money for a gold watch that I would only wear every so often...and frankly, I don't want to fork out a ton of money for a watch, period :-).

While the two-tone watches on this thread are lovely and are the perfect solution to this dilemma, I'm not a two-tone gal so I find myself in similar situation. I appreciate everyone's input -- I think I will make more of an effort to try and mix the metals rather than just not wearing a watch when I wear my YG jewellery.

PBI, do you have a pic of how you mix it with your Cartier pieces??

OP I also want to thank you for starting this topic.. I've been going crazy debating the same thing. My jewelry taste is RG/WG and there's no way I can buy a solid gold BB right now and wearing ss worried me. I just added two whitw gold and platinum diamond pieces to my everyday set so I'm wondering if that will help! I think either that or getting a gold face with a leather strap are personally my only options. What did you decide on?

Thank you for all your thoughts and opinions. I haven´t decided yet - but I will have to decide before Cartier will increase their prices in March/April...

At the end of the month, we are going to visit a Cartier boutique. I talked to a sa on the phone (to ensure that both the ss and the tt demoiselle are available). She advised me to wear my favorite yellow gold jewellery and to try both watches. I hope that I will like one watch much better on my wrist than the other.

I used to have a couple different cartier watches in white gold and found them fragile and impractical. I also had a stainless yachtmaster. All gone. I currently have one stainless Cartier. I feel it blends seamlessly with everything-both yellow, rose and white metals. I almost bought an all rose gold rolex a few years back but decided that I prefer the two tone. All yellow gold while stunning certainly is too much for me. I feel like its too in your face for lack of a better word. I recall many friend's fathers with their yellow gold and stainless rolexes and it seems really classic and elegant to me:smile1:. My next watch is a rose gold and stainless rolex.

I had this dilemma as well; whether to go with two tone or SS watch then I found a nice comprise in the Michele Siren Two Tone Diamond Watch which has the 18 Kt gold in it then I chose a SS band and it looks beautiful whenever I wear yellow gold jewelry with this watch. Looks magnificent with either yellow gold or white gold jewelry.
Also if you decide you want to change up the look of the watch you can just change the bands.
I got the best of both worlds with this watch bec whether I am wearing yellow gold, white gold or silver the watch always blends in well.
Here is the Siren Two Tone Face of the Michele Watch I got.

I have this dilemma. I bought a two tone 18k yellow gold and stainless steel Baume et Mercier watch.

I do not like the look of the stainless steel watch with yellow gold rings or bracelets.

I own a Cartier Tank Louis Cartier (gold, small size, black leather band) and wear it every day. I love it but I have to be quite careful with it, so I feel the need to have a watch with a metall band as well: for hot summer days, skiing, cooking... etc.

I'm curious, is the reason you had to be careful of it because of the leather strap?

Actually the main reason is the leather strap: I feel uncomfortable on really hot summer days (our vacations in southern France), while doing sports (ballet and yoga), cooking and doing the washing up.

I love my Tank Louis Cartier to bits, but I would like to have the look of an all-metall-watch as well...

Yup, I get it. And I think it really justifies the purchase too because a S/S watch is so different from a gold/leather watch.

And Yay for yoga, my fave!

I like this very much!!

My wedding band is gold as are the bangles I wear daily. I usually wear a ss/gold watch, but on occasion wear just SS. Honestly, these days I don't think it matters. People are piling and stacking all sorts of ridiculous combinations of bangles, leather cuffs with time pieces. Buy what you love.

Loved reading everyone's responses so I thought I would share.

I have often thought about this topic as well. I currently have these watches: ImageUploadedByPurseForum1390161745.097651.jpg

My everyday jewelry is one of these watches with 3 RG Cartier Love rings (one ring on right ring finger and two bands stacked on left middle finger) as well as these earrings: ImageUploadedByPurseForum1390161867.190787.jpg (custom made solid RG from BVLA) and my RG septum ring in my nose.

I had all the watches before I got into RG and I feel that the watches are classic pieces that wear well on their own but also add a different element than if I was wearing a RG watch. Sometimes I do wish I had a RG Rolex but I like mixing golds and sometimes I even throw on a YG Paloma Picasso hammered ring.
