Would you NOT buy solely on brand?

MK is my dealbreaker.
There might be more but it seems more unconsciously.
Now feeling like a snob. But...err...that's the way it is *shrug*

If money were not an issue, I'd buy any bag LOL!

But usually it's not so much a brand, but a logo. For example, I don't really go for Chanel but if they had a bag in awesome quality AND didn't have their CC logo, I would totally buy. There's nothing wrong with the CC logo; I just don't usually like branding that gives everyone an idea of how much money I spent on a bag. One day I'll learn to not care about what people think about how I spend my money lol.

But they DO have that bag! It’s called the Reissue. It’s a Chanel classic, based on the original Chanel bag design, with a non-CC turnlock. Personally, it’s my favorite Chanel bag. Ironically, the resale prices are lower than the Chanel Classic Flap *because* it lacks the CC logo.

The reissue is so beautiful! Thanks for your reply! I love a lot of modern Chanel designs that you can spot on their website. Recently the coco handle caught my eye, but it also has the double C's! I think most if not all their new shapes do, so I'll wait for the right one for me to come around haha.

This is exactly why I rarely carry my monogram LV bags. People are always looking and asking about it. Ohh girll is that real? How much was that bag?! [emoji58]

If you found a bag whose design you loved, and the quality was good, would you ever NOT buy the bag just because you didn't like the brand?
Yes. Because - well, the thing is the QUALITY wouldn't be there, so it's kind of an oxymoron. I mean, if I liked the design - and the quality was there - then why wouldn't I like the brand? So, generally, quality goes hand in hand with the brand, as least for me. There can be all kinds of cute designs but if the quality isn't there..

Great thread. I’m like a few other posters here - I buy what speaks to my heart, and for me that’s LV. And my preference is for older, cleaner styles, so even some of the newer LV designs don’t speak to me.

I do like the look of many other brands and know there are a lot of superb quality bags out there. So far, I haven’t found any brand I didn’t like enough to NOT to buy it.
I’m just a Louis girl *shrug*. Thanks for letting me share.

Yes, because what I am looking for is quality and design rather than a name. I find that I am more interested in lesser known brands than the popular brands e.g. strathberry, linjer, danse lente, etc.

I was treated horribly in a Dior store 10+ years ago and will never shop Dior. I was invited to a private event recently by a friend and skipped it. I will never go into one of their stores again. It worked out well in the end because I ended up buying a bag that led me to tPF. Now, I'm shopping Hermes more than anything. I should go back to that Dior store for my "Pretty Woman" moment. :p

I also won't buy bags that are everywhere... MK, Coach, etc.

I have asked myself this question before and have found it difficult to answer.

Firstly I don't buy anything that's not as good as I have already. And, I already have a lot of choice. In the past I've bought all over the (tPF) board (though there are still a few brands I have not yet bought). For anything new, I admit I look at the same 3 brands first, but I love to check through and discover new 'worlds'.

What's more, if the style colour/quality/price/aftercare was all there, I would buy an 'unknown'/little known brand over any well-known brand that didn't match the same criteria. So, actually, I would not rule out any brand but I do have some very strict stipulations so the bar is set high.

Yes -- there are two brands which I actually used to buy when I was younger (20s), but over time my feeling for the brands have changed to the point where even though I see both of them improving and coming out with great stuff, I have a mental block on purchasing!
