Would you NOT buy solely on brand?

If money were not an issue, I'd buy any bag LOL!

But usually it's not so much a brand, but a logo. For example, I don't really go for Chanel but if they had a bag in awesome quality AND didn't have their CC logo, I would totally buy. There's nothing wrong with the CC logo; I just don't usually like branding that gives everyone an idea of how much money I spent on a bag. One day I'll learn to not care about what people think about how I spend my money lol.

I never say never, but will admit there are certain brands where the bag catches my eye, then I notice the brand and immediately scroll without clicking.
I agree. Practically, I pass up some brands because of poor resale. Less rationally, I pass up some brands because of the aesthetic or because I just don't identify with the brand positioning.

Brands have power which is why money is poured into developing them. So some brands draw me and some even repel me.

If I buy a bag, I'm in it mostly for aesthetics first. I'll only NOT buy from a brand if I'm aware of some sort of controversy going on within them, i.e., say the creative director is a racist bigot or the brand employs exploitative labor practices. I'll give any brand a chance as long as they don't leave a bitter aftertaste. I wouldn't want to pay hundreds or even thousands for a bag if it ended up falling apart. It reflects badly on the brand.

Yes for example Michael Kors, no offense to anyone who likes MK but that is one brand I know for sure I will not indulge in be it bags, clothing, shoes, whatever. I just really don't care for him and I have passed on a MK bag I otherwise would have bought had it not been MK.

Also years ago I started despising monogram from any brand back when the fakes were everywhere I just couldn't bring myself to buy anything logo. However I felt a bit stupid for allowing what others engage in effect me on that kind of lever that I would deprive myself of something I want because of what others are doing. So I buy what I want now and don't care if it's monogram or logo. I know it's real so I couldn't care less about anyone who think its fake especially given I don't buy things to impress others anyway.

However I do get a chuckle when I notice someone "inspecting" my bag and that expression of disappointment on their face when they come to the realization that it is not fake. Then there are brands like Fendi that I'm not oppose to buying I just haven't connected with the brand enough to do so.

Yep.
Find any number of reasons to dislike particular things.
Brand names, way logos look, store window displays, questionable advert campaigns, celebrites paid to endorse, how treat employees & source materials.
On & on.
No justifications given. No logic necessary.

Feelings may change next day. Or stay same for 20 years.
But, until I want to support--will not reap single coin from me.
Am stubborn about my crazy whims.:p

So true for Chanel, I don't quite get why they have the CC logo in the center of almost every bag...

I'll choose quality over brand. Why should I pay for a brand which is poorly made or have some issues while there are less known or cheaper bags that are well made? I will pay for less and save me some whining and be happy of what I bought. I do love brand bags though but I don't buy just for the name.

Yes. I saw a cute bag at TJMaxx, and I put it away as soon as I saw the label. I do that often. There are so many handbag brands that I don't feel like I'm missing out if I don't like the designer.

I would. And I have been very sad when I sees bag l love by the company and cannot bring myself to buy it.

It could be for political reasons (I'm looking at you Donna Karan) or because I don't love logos and some companies insist on putting them everywhere. Or I just smh at their business practices (Hermes - sorry, I know many love them).

Wouldn't even buy them second hand.
