Always in store, unless exchange rate works out way cheaper or it's a limited piece not available in my country than I would get it online from reputable luxury sites.

I'd rather get it in a store. If it was hard to find and only online, I don't know.. I'd probably check here to see if there were any threads on it. I'd try to get as much information as I could before ordering. (After making sure they had a good return policy.)

Purchased some online.
Or phoned stores to purchase directly.
Also, ordered as gifts shipped to recipients.
If dead certain wanted item(s) & trusted companies, ordered internationally--not dealing with those shipping/return hassles lightly.

Absolutely refuse to order from hermes website.
Anywhere a bag costs that much, they're going to find me a comfty chair & produce some facial expressions.

Also prefer irl store purchases for pawing through matching wallets & pouches.
Some brands(esp. mulberry), leather dye varied. Was good to see which bag & wallet tones did not sync, before money skittered around.

Yes, I purchase online if I’m familiar with the maker’s model, size, colour and leather. Otherwise I need to handle the bag to judge if it would suit me. I also purchase from stores directly if one of my lovely SA’s contacts me about something that has come in that I’ve been looking for.

Not really a choice for me since I live in a city where the closest designer boutiques are 3 hours of driving away:sad: I would like to see the bags in real life if possible, however every time I travel to big cities I am too afraid of impulse purchase that I end up not buying at all:lol::lol: All my premium designer bags are bought online/through phone order.

The majority of my bags have been purchased online through Neiman Marcus. I have bought a couple pre-owned through fashionphile. I do not live near a store that sells high end merchandise so online is really the only option for me unless I am on a trip. If I lived somewhere wear high end pieces were more accessible, I would be probably more likely to buy them in the store as long as they carried the bag I wanted.

I am in the same position as you, the closest store that sells high end bags is a three hour drive. So I usually buy online.

How about you? What do you prefer? I notice you ask a lot of questions about how people prefer to buy. Please share your own experiences.

I would buy online if they had many high quality pictures that clearly show all of the details. Many times online stores have 1 or 2 pictures only so I think it is not enough.

And also if the store had good reputation or at least gave me a good reason to trust it, then I would buy there.

I've purchased new and preloved online for years. I always do my research; I google the crap out of the item, look at mod shots, reviews, videos, WIMB, trawl tPF, ask others, the works. If the bag is available at a store near me, I might go and see it or ask a friend if they have it. I also make sure I'm buying from a reliable source and authenticate preloved beforehand.
