The issue I would have with this is not the bag being older. It would be that it was orginally a price and they marked it up with price increases. Why increase the price on a 4 year bag? It's been sitting there for 4 years. They should sell it at what price was 4 years ago.
This explains it! But four years lag in reallocating the stock... sounds like Chanel has poor inventory and logistics operation to me.
Sure, I would buy a 2017 bag if they charged me the 2017 price 
I need some advice... I bought a Chanel classic flap today in black caviar leather with silver hardware from Harrods via their personal shopping option and from the receipt I can see the serial number starts with 29XXXXXX (so it was made in 2019).
Is it normal to be sold a bag that is already 2 years old?

I think there is a great deal of stock shifting going around right now. Just bought a black lambskin jumbo new from a boutique that was 25 series. Pristine condition.
I might as long as it's factory new and not a return. I wonder if some of this stock is coming from stores that closed because of the pandemic.

My SA texted it to me... a red tweed mini, I posted it in the April 2021 purchases thread. They had actually just received it! I think because of lockdowns in Europe a lot of past season/older series bags are trickling into stores. I think it was from 20B.
