I'm going to be at a mall that has a Coach store in a week or so. This outlet only has made for outlet bags.
Would you put a lower price limit on made for outlet bags?
Would you not buy them at all?

I had actually bought a pebbled leather satchel there after Christmas but after looking at it more closely and finding out I could get a Borough bag (at a different outlet store) for not that much more money, I exchanged it.

One concern for me is if I get tired of a bag and want to sell it, I think outlet bags would have much worse resale value.

But if there was one I liked (leather, no logo bags for me) at a great price, I might buy it, esp since Coach has a good refund policy.

I don't think outlet bags necessarily have less resale value. Not all ebay buyers know the difference. I don't think you should buy a bag for its resale value anyway. I have some outlet bags that I love. I bought the Peyton pocket tote because I liked it better than the saffiano totes in FP. The Peyton is more useful to me because of all the pockets. My leather Zoe is MFF and the quality is just as nice as the FP version.

An outlet bag is almost always going to be cheaper than FP, unless FP is on clearance. I guess I might have trouble paying more for a similar bag if it was MFF. It depends on how much I love it.

thanks :smile1:
I know I'll have to go into that outlet store to see what the have
Will keep your advice in mind

I would get a Coach Factory bag if it was a style I couldn't live without. I have a Coach Factory tote that is cute, but has not held up nearly as well as a Coach crossbody I purchased at Macy's 6 years ago. The 6 year old Macy's bag looks MUCH better than the 2 year old factory tote. That being said, I am not a total snob, as I still own some Coach Factory pieces, but I would rather spend a little more money and buy a Coach piece from a full price Coach store or a Macy's, Dillard's, Nordstrom, etc.

Depends on what it costs!

For instance i got a Peyton Satchel... it is a MFF bag but i got it for 40% then additional 50% off so very inexpensive...

I agree with Eve buying a purse for resale is not a good idea, it's a tough and competitive marketplace.. buy what you love and if you can resale it later? that sweetens the pot but don't look at that as a priority for basing the purchase, at least IMO.

Depends on the bag. The newer outlet bags, probably not. I've got a problem with some of the business practices the outlet has been implementing as of late.
That said, I've purchased quite a few over the years. Like whateve stated, some of the mff bags are great quality. The last mff bag I bought for myself was in Spring 2014. Since then, no bags made for the outlet have really grabbed me.

you're right
I never buy with the intent to sell and make a profit
I try to buy what I like but to also buy a bag that I can at least recoup a halfway decent percentage of the cost if I decide to sell later

If there's something you like that can't be found in FP, why not? I have 2 mini Coras, for example, because I love the patent saffiano of 1, and unlike a mini Preston, their handles fold down.

ANY Coach outlet bag is of better quality than a say, Nine West in my opinion.
While outlet bags are usually trendier for the price I don't think there is a better bag for the buck than Coach.
I have had 11 or 12 over the years and alway been pleased.

I used to not like buying them but I have one now and it's a great carryall for work. I also traveled with it and it worked well for that too. I believe it's called the park leather tote but not completely sure. I have it in metallic and a matching wallet as well.

I would and have bought MFF bags, tho I like to score deletes if I can. When the Ashleys were out a few years ago I was a huge fan and both of them still look great and get lots of love.
