Would you buy a diamond ring from eBay?

I got my upgrade e-ring a couple of years ago from Bluenile and I've been very happy with it, they are really great to deal with, plus there's no risk since they accept returns. I hope you find what you're looking for.

I might if it were really cheap, the seller had 100% feedback spread over years, I was using Paypal, there was a good return policy and the feedback said that the seller was good with returns, and if I knew a jeweller who would appraise it within the return window. Also,if my expectations were a bit low (if you want a GIA diamond, go to Bluenile).
When I was on Pricescope, several people there said they had bought from a seller called Mlopros and that they were happy with what they got. I looked at his or her site a few times and the prices seemed reasonable for what was being offered--not like you were getting a huge deal like it might seem, but that the prices were in line with the usual prices for whatever it was. There were a lot of loose diamonds on the site, but also some finished jewelry, some antiques and some other occasional pieces. The diamonds to bid on were usually terrible quality (and it was clearly written what they were, although of course the seller always said that for this quality, the diamond was better than usual) and a lot of the buy-it-now jewelrywas very low priced. But you can lookon there for yourself, if you're interested.
I never did buy anything there, I wantto repeat that.

mlopros has this pretty vintage ring for $339, only .40 carat total weight and the center diamond is more champagne than white but it's pretty and a good deal if you like genuinely antique styles and don't mind smaller rings:

You can see the loose diamonds being offered if you click on the link and then look at the other things in the store. AGain, nothing super spectacular but there's a pretty pendant, you could make a nice pair of smaller earrings at a reasonable price--depends on your tastes and what you are looking for.

I'mthinking this pear is a nice pendant. My jeweler would set it in one of those pre-set white gold settings for about $80 and then it would just be a matter of getting a chain.

Yes, I would. There are some great sellers of diamonds online. But I always get them checked by a jeweler I trust and I have the option to return. I check feedback and I check their actual history via google. I have had one problem- it was a ring for my mom and it was CRAP. But they refunded my money plus shipping.

THere are ppl who take advantage on ebay, but there are some great sellers, too. My wedding band, which I love, is from a seller on ebay, but they have an actual shop in NY. I have also found a couple of good antique jewelry sellers (i love antique/vintage jewelry) and they are super legit and fantastic.

If you do some research and are careful, you can buy off of ebay. But if you aren't sure, then DO NOT. It is not worth it!

I wouldn't purchase a diamond sight-unseen period.

While it may look fantastic on paper, often times these rocks are "too good to be true" & I'd like to SEE what I'm purchasing.......especially diamonds.

I hope it is ok to say this. I do sell diamonds on eBay, so I can assure you that there are honest people who sell diamonds as described. I list cut, color, clarity, polish, symmetry and florescence for each and every piece. I also include illustrations as I have found that an informed buyer is a happy buyer.

Before I started selling, I was a buyer of fine pre-owned jewelery and I made sure that there was a return policy, their feedback was good, and I personally looked for sellers with email addresses and phone numbers listed as I felt that it gave me an extra assurance somehow.

If you do decide to buy on eBay make sure that you have a local jeweler you trust who can look the piece over for you after you receive it. Also, there are steals to be had as long as you know what you are looking for. I personally sell some items starting at $1 to get people to notice me and look at the items in my store as those items do not show up in the search (I did not know this until I started selling) unless the seller pays a lot extra and when you list several items the costs add up quickly as I have found out.

Just do your research before hand (ie: do not buy a I3 and expect it to look like a VS) and have a good local jeweler and you should be fine. Oh and most importantly, post your picture here so we can all enjoy your eye candy :)

Also when you purchase in the SI1, SI2, or SI3 clarity range make sure that they state that it is eye clean. I would never buy or sell enhanced diamonds as you just never know how long the enhancement will last and exactly what and who did it. Also, the one auction that you asked about in particular, were they did an enhancement and only got it up to a SI2 really makes me leary, what was it before that? I would stay away from sellers that sell enhanced stones. There are good diamonds to be had on eBay for good prices, just keep looking and when you do find one that you like, ask your forum members, there really is a wealth of knowledge here.

I think that buying a ring from the Ebay it's a really bad idea. Especially if it's gonna be a wedding ring or engagement.
Does anybody know, is it okay to use ceramic rings for the wedding and where can I buy a good one?
