Would you buy a 14 year old a david yurman bracelet?

I would IF the girl is responsible and takes care of her current belongings well. If she is really good about keeping up with her stuff, and not losing it or loaning it out to friends, I think it would be fine.

If she isn't like this, then I'd opt for something similar without the DY price tag.

Personally, it depends entirely on the girl in question. Is she mature? Does she take care of what she has? Does she share with her friends, or hold on to what she has? Does she like the piece and the look of the piece?

My best friend's daughter is six years old. For her kindergarten graduation, she was given a Tiffany & Co starfish necklace. That necklace was put into her mother's jewelry box for when she is older, and she was also given a Tiffany-style necklace for her to wear every day.

aww. That is cute. I was givin jewelry as a child. Italian grandparents!
I still have a locket from when I was a very small child. I used to bite it and I love it still.

As for the Yurman for your 15 year old. I agree it depends on the teenager.
Only you know that. There are 40 year olds I wouldn't trust with a nice peice of jewelry. Maturity does not always equal age.

I have to agree with everyone, it depends on the girl. I think it's a great gift, but only if it's taken care of. I have a 21 year old niece that I'm holding a vintage ring for. She's not getting it for a while. Too immature! I also have a 55 year old friend that loses every piece of jewelry she has bought.
