I've actually been considering the Mulberry Bayswater. I've been looking a teeny bit but haven't seem the 2 colors I want - a medium / dark grey with shw or a burgundy with ghw. If I decide to get serious about this bag, I need to get educated on this model as I've heard that the "older" ones are better quality than the "new" ones. I don't know what the cut off point is or how to identify it.
Oh yay, I'm glad you are at least considering it!! I have "mole grey" which is a darker grey w/ silver hardware & I adore it as it goes w/ everything. I think I might know what you are referring to when you say "older ones"....early last year (2016) Johnny Coco came in (from Celine) as the new director & a lot of die-hard Mulberry lovers were not really all that pleased (you can see this in Mulb threads)....1 thing that didn't sit well with many Mulb fans was that he did "re-design" the Bayswater style a bit. For those that consider the Bayswater a true classic (& it really is), it did offend them in that he was changing up a bag that was considered legendary & a true quintessential Mulberry style. For me personally, I'm "open" to redesigning/subtle tweaks & I was a Celine fan so his new designs were OK w/ me, BUT I absolutely understood why so many long-time Mulb lovers were dissatisfied.....so much so, that I don't see nearly the same "friends" in the Mulberry threads as I did see before Johnny Coco came to the brand. All this being said, he did attract some new Mulberry fans with some of his new designs (I can definitely see the Celine influence) & I've seen many posts from folks who have purchased the "new" Bayswater & other styles this past year. Sorry for being long-winded & I hope this helps! I think you would be pleased w/ the quality. Best of Luck dear Sparkle!:flowers::hugs:

How about a Mansur Gavriel tote? They are very understated, made of elegant leather, and can fit a laptop, iPad, etc... Bonus: the interior comes in a variety of beautiful colors. The larger option is perfect for carrying over the shoulder (no optional strap needed).

Hi! I don't want to hijack someone else's thread but I have the same question as the original poster. I'm quite curious about the Celine trifold so am curious if you like it? Im also new to this forum so if there is a way to direct message so I do t have to ruin the OP thread I'm happy to do that!!!
@Sparkletastic hey friend, would you consider Mulberry Bayswater? Has satchel like vibe w/ 2 handles that can fit over shoulder. Branding is very subtle (a big requirement for me as well) & it fits a lot. Some folks might say they can get heavy but I personally don't feel they are. You can definitely find one in good condition on pre-loved market for your pricepoint or less. I believe a few of the newer style Mulberry Bayswaters have the additional crossbody strap. Mulberry also has a (discontinued style called "Willow") that might peek your curiousity based on your description. I would have also recommended the new Celine TriFold bag to you but no crossbody strap & not sure you're a Celine fan....another very subtle branding line:smile:. I have 3 workhorse bags for work & love them all.....my grey Mulberry Bayswater, my new black Celine TriFold, & my Souris color Celine Luggage (pics are on my profile page under albums if you are curious & want to see what they look like) GOOD LUCK w/ your hunt! You are indeed a masterful Huntress so I know you'll find something fabulous!!:flowers::biggrin:

I'm looking for a a couple of good workhorse bags for work and need your help. I'm looking for two bags. The color options I'm considering are bordeaux, grey, caramel/camel and possibly back

They need to be:
• Premier
• Leather
• Chic styling
• Satchel or modified satchel like tote
• Relatively lightweight
• Not a lot of busy hardware, external pockets, etc.
• Optional shoulder strap preferred
• Large enough for daily needs and an iPad. Ability to fit a 13" laptop is nice but definitely not a requirement.

And most importantly
• Little or preferably no branding to go under the radar at work.

Some bags I like: YSL sac du jours, Max Mara Whitney, Givenchy Horizon, Marc Jacobs west end tote. But none have been perfect.

These bags will get loooooots of use so I'm happy getting them preloved. And I'd like to stay $1500 or less which is decent for many bags on sale or preloved.

Please help!
I also have a boss bespoke bag in yellow which I adore. I got it on sale and it should fit most of your needs.

I also have a boss bespoke bag (yellow) which I love. Very classy and chic and fits a lot. I like that it's under the radar and not as recognizable as some other brands. The leather is smooth but doesn't scratch easily. I got it on sale too, so it was maybe 700?it has a shoulder strap but it's not too heavy so I don't mind carrying it. Not sure it would fit a laptop though.

Ohmigoodness. Thanks for this recommendation. These are prefect!!! Did you buy yours online or at one of the stores? How long did it take you to receive your bag?

I just walked into the store and bought it! Not sure where you live but they have boss stores all over. It's a good bag. You can't see but it actually has a big pocket so you can keep keys separately. It's not crazy pricey so I felt good buying it in a fun color. :)

I can't carry super high end bags at work because of some similar issues. That said, I am a lawyer so I want to look professional. I have 3 Tumi bags (one all leather, two leather and nylon). They are lightweight, accommodate laptops, and are extremely subtle. They are also well-made with a 5 year warranty. I just got the Dara and it looks great in person. Even though it's a nylon and leather mix, it looks very professional (I got it in black).

I just bought a Tory Burch Perry Tote for work and couldn't be happier. It's very lightweight so I don't mind it not having a long strap. Lovely to carry and I can fill it with papers, books and my laptop. It feels very luxurious but is understated. Also a good price point. I'm going to get another!

I hadn't thought of Tumi. Thanks!

I also recently discovered Marco Massaccesi handbags. They are custom made in Italy and very understated. They've also been super responsive when I've had questions. Look up the forums about them on here.
