Hi ladies! I’m considering getting a “work” bag that can fit my 13” MacBook and I thought of the garden party (alongside the LV on the go or dior’s book tote etc). This is my first hermes purchase... not sure if this would be available in the store? Would you recommend it as a work bag or get something else? Would need a long lasting, durable material for this. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Love my G36 for my work horse bag. It's super durable and is understated. Never looks too flashy in a meeting ;)

Only con: gets a bit heavy depending on the leather. Canvas will be much lighter

I recommend the Goyard Goyardine (?) It’s the version with the zip top. And it’s lightweight all weather too. I have one and it’s a great work/travel bag.

OR, if you can find a Victoria computer bag in the pre-Loved market, grab it. Mine is crinoline and Barenia. It will last until the next millennia and look great.

ah, thanks for the reminder on goyard and sharing about Victoria! You’re spot on about the zipper. Ideally I’d like those as well and keep it light and simple! I’ll check them out!

Im glad you called those cons out! The heaviness was why I considered hermes to Dior or LV! I heard they’re so heavy! And my alternative was to look for a backpack. I’m commuting to Manhattan... and want to look presentable yet light on the shoulders.

I tried on the go GM as workbag but it was almost too roomy, things are shifting around all the time, so will need an organizer for sure. I also find it too stiff and hard to use with shoulder strap (keep falling off on me for some reason)

i always use the small book tote as a work bag sometimes, with an organizer... but i wish i have closure or snap at the top!

I use a GP 36 in vache country for work. I use it to carry lighter items -- lunch, snacks, umbrella -- but find it too heavy with a laptop (I have a 13 inch Dell ultrabook that is supposed to be lightweight but not really). I'm also in NYC and find a backpack is easiest for a laptop, if unfortunately not the most stylish.

Another option is the Celine cabas phantom. I have it in small which is a bit too small for a laptop, but I'm thinking of getting the larger medium size to fit a laptop. I really like totes so i am OK with have a few depending on what I am carrying.

What backpack would you recommend? To be most practical, I think backpack is the way to go but I’m worried that it’s not as presentable for some days where you’ve to transition day to night and client meetings. Let me know!
