I have just bought a classic woc, and I realized the top is bowed in more than I thought it was. I was too fixated on the shininess of the leather and I forgot to check the woc at the boutique. The first photo is my new woc, and the second photo is the display woc that has a loose thread. The display woc clearly has a flat even top, and mine is curved.

I would like to ask if this degree of curve is acceptable for a new woc? I understand that the woc will eventually look like this with use because of the chain, but will it bow in even more?

And to woc owners who used their wocs for years, is it possible that the top of your woc remained straight?

Does this call for an exchange? TIAE59E5C63-C287-4096-8FB0-D3E6FDE28C62.jpeg9957D452-0A9D-4A85-91E2-923290413DBD.jpeg

I purchased my WOC over 5 years ago and it’s had a lot of use. It does not bow at the top like that. This is not right at all - I would exchange.
Hi honeybunch, may I ask do you put your cellphone in the woc? I heard that weight can cause the bowing. I did not wanna seem to be nitpicking, but the bowing is bothering me more than it should. And I thought I was lucky to find a made in France piece that is shiny.

Hi! Yes, I do. I overstuff it and it can’t even close. To be honest, I am thinking of selling it as I can’t stand not being able to fit much in it! I walk around with the flap open half of the time! Lol! I usually carry cards in the slots, a small bottle of hand sanitiser, my phone and a bunch of keys. It’s become my go-to bag during the lockdown as it’s easy just to grab and go and wear crossbody for the daily walks. I would probably go for the display model with the loose stitch if I were you, if you are dead set on the shiny leather. How bad is it? I’ve had a flap with loose stitches before and they didn’t get any worse. You could get it repaired.

I would not accept a brand new WOC with the curve ends like this. I recently bought a classic WOC. There was a WOC at the boutique with 1 end curved up. The SA points it out to me and told me not to get it and wait for the next batch! (I would not have known that it is a defect until she points it out to me & I really appreciate her honesty. I then come to this forum and research more about it) I wonder if the bag has been used. I have silicone strips that I will stick to the sides to help prevent friction between the leather and the chain. I hope it helps with the curving of the bag in the future too.

Oh then I should have it exchanged, I thought the top will bow in eventually. The display with loose thread was the one I almost bought last month until my SA pointed out it has a loose stitching and told me to wait for a new one. I will text the SA I bought this woc from and see if he has another woc. Thank you

My friend said it is not noticeable until I pointed it out to her, now she can’t unsee it. Her woc also has a flat top. Exchange it is.

Update:

Texted the SA and he immediately held a woc for me to have it exchanged. The one he held for me was brand new never opened, it had the same problem, the top bowed in, and the leather was very dry. So I asked to see 2 more, they all have the same problem and leather was dry. So I’ve decided to keep my woc.

When I got home, I went on youtube to find some unboxing videos and found a lot of them having curved tops, some unboxing videos were as old as 3-5 years. So I guess this is a common problem.

I am thinking should I return it for store credit, and wait for one that is perfect or keep this one.

You should go back to the store and return it for store credit. Even though it's a common problem for WOC, you should never settle for less! Some people buy the curved WOC not knowing about it...they will be happy. However, it is hard to "un-see" it & pretend it is not there whenever you look at that curved WOC. It is best to get rid of it and wait for the perfect one.

what a tough situation! I understand being so excited for your purchase only for it not be perfect. I think that you took the step to exchange it shows that you were willing to accept that this woc is less than what you had hoped. If the woc is less than perfect, enough to exchange it than maybe it's worth returning all together for store credit. Only you can decided what's best for you though! good luck!
