I would avoid keeping pieces which I do not use, unless they have sentimental value. However, this piece may not be easy to replace if you change your mind. Bear that in mind if you decide to sell :)

Thinking about selling a bag that is not comfortable to use, but very beautiful to look at.
Please help me decide.

I have one bag in my collection which I mainly have because it's pretty to look at. In my case, it's not because it's uncomfortable but because it's iridescent and I don't want to wear it out so I'm only going to use it on special occasions. I keep it by my work desk and it gives me butterflies to look at it. I wouldn't collect bags like this but this one is a special exception.

Not sure if this helps but I'm planning to get the kirigami set to use as travel cases for chargers. Perhaps you could use yours for something like that instead of as a purse?

I think (most) users on this forum treat bags a bit differently than the average person. We see them as beautiful pieces to collect and not necessarily wear all of them frequently. People talk about “holy grail” bags, but in real life I never hear anyone saying this.. to most people they’re ‘just bags’ to use and don’t attach that much importance to them. Imo, just because bags are designed to carry things doesn’t mean you need to always do that. Some people collect vintage cars that they don’t drive. Lots of users on here are handbag collectors.

Personally I think it’s totally fine to have bags you use infrequently in your collection, if you love them and think they’re beautiful to look at. I also get anxious with clutter and I’m very much a minimalist, but I don’t see my infrequently-used bags as clutter because I love them. So what if I only use certain bags once a year? Sometimes I just like to take them out and look at them, or post a photo of them on tpf. I don’t do this with clothes, or household items, or anything else. But pretty handbags bring me joy, and I keep my most delicate and impractical ones pretty but using them sparingly. I have other bags that I also love but I’m more comfortable beating them up. I would say that you should try to use most of your bags, but it’s okay not to. No judgment on this forum lol, we are all guilty of doing this!

I’m a practical girl. All my bags are not babied and they get used but cared for. I have one bag in my stash that I just love and makes me happy every time I look at it. It is not an everyday bag for me and use it maybe 2-3 a year since I acquired it nearly 10 years ago. It’s my most expensive bag to date. And I have no regrets having it in my collection.

The way I see it, it brings me joy that is very different from every other bag I own. If I have 15 bags on rotation for use, why can’t I have 1 bag that is purely eye-candy for me?

I have a very small white Coach purse (can’t remember for the life of me the name) with flowers that is so so pretty, I won’t sell her even though I won’t use her (I’m not a small purse person).

I don't like to keep anything in my home that has no use or just collects dust unless I purchased it with the intention of keeping it as decoration. If it were up to me I would sell it.
This is my approach as well.

With all the gorgeous bags out there, why not sell this and buy something that is both beautiful and functional? To me, it needs to go. There’s no reason to compromise and own something that is problematic.

I've tried keeping a few bags as closet candy. I bought them with every intention of using them, but they just didn't work out as I'd hoped. As lovely as they were (and as much as it pained me to do it), I had to let them go. I'm unable to keep a bag I'm not using, even if it's staggeringly beautiful. I don't know why.

I have had bags that I adored and did not want to carry because they are too heavy, too big, too formal, too fragile, or too whatever. All rare, deep vintage Hermes. I kept them 2 to 4 years. Then a point came that I felt like I had lived with them long enough and had experienced them long enough. I was ready to let them go and sold them. At that point, I was happy to have owned them. I had good memories of them that would stay with me after the sale. I have had no regrets on these sales. I still have a lot of other deep vintage Hermes bags that totally work for me.

I am glad that you raised the issue as I am currently dealing with it myself. It is interesting to hear what others have to stay on the keep vs let go issue. My last purchase (Nov 21) is an ambivalence bag. I change my mind daily about keep or return/sell--literally every day since I bought it. When I am in a different room from it, I want to let it go because I feel pressured to carry it and don't want to because the straps are not comfortable. When I see it, it is "oh I have to keep it because it is sooo beautiful". So I totally get your dilemma. I have no idea what I will do with my current dilemma bag. Probably spend years changing my mind daily until I am ready to release it. This one bothers me more that the previous ones because I bought it to be a daily carry whereas the previous ones were specialty bags not intended for daily carry.

I think my point to you is maybe you just have to wait until you feel at peace about a decision. Seller's remorse is just as real as buyer's remorse.

It is my beautiful LV BTP kirigami pochette, I used the big one only once. It doesn't feel comfortable to carry and only fit bare essentials.
I bought an insert and clear bag to play around with these 3, just never want to take them out. Maybe it is freezing cold outside.

If I sell them, I want to fund a speedy B 20 monogram, but it seems never available online:sad:

My husband said that I will always want new bags, but if I really like this one, then keep it.

I love all three of them together. My advice is to wait for a summer day and wear them as you have them here.

You might be surprised how fabulous and light hearted you feel.
