Oh yes, I hear you! I bought some black boots with brassy hardware, and I went and bought a black oil Sharpie that is made to color metal and painted it all black. I'm afraid I could not get away with that on a handbag, but the boot metal was not prominent.

This is so true. When I was into MK I wanted a claret/wine bag so badly, but they only came in GHW. I did get a lovely wine MAB with SHW, but you have to really research to find SHW bags!

Such an interesting discussion! I have a strong preference for silver but do own a few bags with gold HW. When I stick to my guns, my bank account is happier because it seems like the majority of bags have gold HW!

I prefer gunmetal or antiqued h/w and don't mind gold or silver h/w on colored bags since it doesn't seem to make a huge difference to me. Silver h/w is most preferred for my black bags tho. I have a black Chanel flap with gold h/w and I dunno if it's the h/w but I rarely reach for it... (prob too structured actually)

In terms of preference, I do prefer silver. But generally I can compromise since there are just some bags I really love that only come in ghw. And then on days I wear the bag with ghw, I just ignore the fact that I'm wearing silver jewelry.

I find this intriguing. I'm really picky as well, and so surprised so many companies opt for ghw...I wonder if its cheaper? I always loved vintage Marc Jacobs bag for the substantial Nickle hw, up until 2005...when he did antiqued brass. Then he switched to ghw for the most part.

I'm actually looking at a few red bags right now and I'm torn because they're all ghw, which really isn't my thing...

I prefer silver hardware. I have purchased bags with gold before and I just hardly ever used it, and ended up selling them. From now on, I almost only purchase bags with silver HW.

Hahah, that sounds exactly like something I would do :laugh:
I honestly don't even know why, but I just don't like yellow gold.
