I am heading to San Francisco for a break in mid May and am wondering what the inventory is like there? Anyone can give me some helpful tips/hints on the store? Which SA should I look for. Thanks...

Bagfreak, SF should be terrific in May. Tony is a wonderful SA (he's also a manager) and can work miracles. I've gone in, asked for something (he was busy with another client) and the other SA told me they were sold out. When Tony became free and came to say hi, I told him to call when the item came in. He asked me to wait a minute while he checked something and sure enough, he came with the item. Remember, the other SA said they were out.
Anyway, he's the BEST!!!! With inventory, I guess it depends. Sometimes I see birkins on the shelf and other times like before christmas they were totally depleted. Have fun in SF, and bring home lots of orange souvenirs.

Good Life - thanks for the tip. I will look out for Tony. Not really sure what I want although a birkin would be a dream. Already got a lindy, evelyne and a kelly - so maybe a birkin would be perfect. But then I do like the boldie too.

Are there lotsa of boldies on the shelves?

Yes, Tony is awesome........He is one of the few at that store that always gives out fabulous customer service......I have been less than impressed with most of the SA's at that store. Even when you walk in with a Bbag, they act like you are invisible and like you should go to THEM with a question not vice versa. Very snobby SA's there IMO. Tony and another male SA there are very cool to work with :p

OMG, Kristie, I totally agree. I'm from SF and would never buy stuff from there before (always from NM for scarves and out of town) cuz I didn't like the customer service. Then I met the TONY. Isn't he terrific? So fun and fabulous. Love him (and the birk, kel, and other goodies from him)!!!!! PS, if you're around, we're trying to get an SF meet at end of month.

That would be fabulous if I am not working that day :D

I actually wrote a letter to H corporate to let them know about the dismal customer service at that store with the exception of Tony and the other male SA (can't remember his name right now).

Tony is very "real" and does not get wrapped up in the hype of H at all.

I was at that store last month and had fabulous CS by Megan. I don't know how long she's been there, but she was recommended to me by another PFer and I found her to be extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

I know at least 3 people who have voiced their negative opinion to me. One says she even goes to Paris (probably in her private jet) to get her birkins and refuses to go into SF H(she owns a big SF business). Maybe since Tony has become one of the managers things have changed. I think now that they've seen me in there, they're a lot friendlier, but they should have been that way from the get go.

I was just in the SF store on Tuesday to exchange a Shoulder Atlas for a 22 SO Kelly. I wasn't sure what bag I wanted and Meagan was very helpful. She's quite young but very competent and seems quite knowledgeable.

I've been shopping there for 4 years and have purchased lots of scarves and a Birkin though I don't think that has improved the service I get from the older SAs. They can be very aloof. I'll have to look for Tony next time I'm there. I also think the service improves if I go early in they day before they get busy.

I was there today and the SA friendliness varies all the time. One SA, who wasn't doing anything, was looking at me until our eyes meet, and she quickly turned away... I hate that! ahaha but thankfully I bought something from another SA who was so helpful even though she was helping someone else who was deciding on a bag.

And Tony, I saw him hang up a phone in frustration and then later I found out what his name because he told a customer that she couldn't exchange a scarf because it was wrinkled and "unsell-able" which he handled really well because customer was kind of strange and a bit stuck up.

But in any case, I hope your trip to SF is fun!

My SA in SF is Meagan and I have always been extremely happy with her service. From buying handbags to scarves, belts or jewelry. She is young but very knowledgeable and helpful. Their birkins go fast so if you see one you better scoop it up before someone else does. Good Luck and hope you find something that will put a big smile on your face.

I am visiting SF next month and would like to purchase my first Birkin, if I am lucky enough. Is there only one Hermes in SF area? Does anybody know whether there is any Hermes shop at the DFS airport? Thank you so much in advance.

There are two Hermes stores in the SF Bay Area. One is the main store on Grant Avenue located in Union Square. The other is a small duty free shop located in SF International Airport. The duty free shop carries accessories, and perhaps the occasional beach bag and garden party, but no other leather bags. You can also find scarves and shawls at Neiman Marcus. Hope this helps.
