will cartier really do authentications on watches?

Hi again ladies, maybe i said something wrong idk, i purchased Cartier watch via bay from a reputable seller, but still wanted to make sure with Cartier itself. I called them just now to make appt, and they said they do not authenticate watches... I called 5th ave store. So, maybe i should've said something different??

I wonder if that is a new policy? I have heard of them authenticating watches in the past. I've also heard that if the watch is a fake, they confiscate it. I believe Rolex does the same thing.
