Will Cartier authenticate?

I wonder if you claimed that you lost the certificate of authenticity, if they would take a look at the piece and give you a new certificate, thereby authenticating it for you? I can't believe they wouldn't reissue you a certificate that you claimed you lost! (for a small fee off course)
I don't know how much the Cartier but the van cleef and arpels reissue a new certificate cost $1200

HI Showgratitude
Thanks or the reply.
I thought about that possibility in the beginning too, but when I talked to the ambassador that explained to me that the" case is not correct and the hands are wrong and the glass is fake etc.", it struck me that it is much more like it , that they are not able or capable of restoring that timepiece since it is an antique and from the 20's.They do not have any more parts for this in the warehouse, so they call it a fake instead of admitting not being able to work on it.There is nothing wrong with the watch its just that it needs a touch up on the dial face where the paint is deteriorating, ( which is typical for the tank from the 20"s.)
I will have the watch assessed by Cartier in Paris or Frankfurt since I have more faith in the craftsmen in Europe then in this country.
Sorry you mentioned watch is from mid century but you just said it is from the 1920s? I also doubt Cartier would hesitate to admit they can no longer source the parts to fix the watch, and instead concoct a story about your watch being fake. I think they would simply apologize for not being able to source the parts, or that they would need to send the watch to Paris.

Cartier charges for their services. As far as I am aware, as long as the piece appears to be Cartier and you're willing to pay for their services, they'll more than likely oblige your request to polish the item you bring in. And they usually need to send the item away to have it cleaned/polished/repaired. It often takes a while. Cartier is never in a hurry, in my experience.

I would suggest getting friendly with a sales associate and asking them what they think of your piece... just to gauge their reaction...

But yes, I do believe that Cartier would polish an authentic-looking replica, as they don't bother authenticating.
This is absurd. They will absolutely not service anything fake. Please don’t misinform people and scare them.

Speaking from experience, they will not service anything fake. I had purchased a bracelet off ebay (with “certificate”), and had taken it in for the hinge to be tightened. They ran the serial number, and that belonged to a ring. I received a letter back from Head Office confirming that it was a fake. But no they did not smash up anything, and I was able to go back to the seller with everything and demand a refund. The morale of the story is that a “certificate” doesn’t guarantee authenticity. If they can fake a bracelet, they can fake a piece of paper. Lesson learned....the hard way.

I bought something off ebay juc bought december 2019 then listed mid february 2020. It had copy of receipt. I had bracelet polished at Cartier. Also checked by a jeweler and all came through. Since it was bought recently, i was able to confirm the serial# matched on their system. Since the bracelet was bought online, cartier eboutiqe sent me a free cleaning kit when i called customer service. I bought it off a guy on ebay who sells high end brands particularly tiffany and cartier. Should i be concerned?
