Why there are so many new & unused bags for consignment

Sadly, I agree. I would add I think a lot of people are reprioritizing their lives, especially for the next 6 to 12 months. With covid many folks are staying home for many reasons: they are not going to work due to layoffs or furloughs, or working from home, not shopping in malls, or dining out any time soon etc. I know I am not, and will not for the foreseeable future. A think a lot of people are coming to realize they won't be using a lot of their bags, work or party clothing, accessories, etc for awhile. I think this is across many parts of the world. Just my sad two cents.
Sadly so true.

So let me get this straight- because of a BLM PROTEST, the luxury stores in your area were looted and vandalized? OR is it because crazy, greedy, thieves took opportunity during something that they could careless to be involved in to execute their malicious intent...

The Chicago BLM organizer Ariel Atkins literally did a TV interview fully supporting the looting for reparations owed. She also stated it‘s ok to take from these stores because everything is insured ans they’ll get their money back. Stating it will allow them to put food on their table. I’m not trying to get political here I’m stating the facts of what happened in Chicago.

I don't care what SHE said! There's plenty of ppl marching and peacefully protesting without destroying a thing- just like there's plenty of ppl stealing and throwing bricks through windows who AREN'T black.

The thing that stunned me was when I put a bunch of evening dresses up and heels up, I thought "Gosh with the lock down and all, they might not sell" and they were snapped up really quick. Made me wonder a bit if they think it will be over soon or what is going on.
In a way I am not surprised. I do not know anyone who had a wedding planned since March who went through with the original plans, if they married they had under 10 people in attendance. On the other hand I am several family friend's kids are booking their weddings for a year from now.

Hermes scarves are selling, that is for sure. I just can not bring myself to purchase anything from the boutique, but I look at the sold auctions and they are certainly selling. I have more than enough Hermes scarves, everyday clothing etc for the limited times a week I leave the house to do a quick errand. On another note I can't find sweatpants to buy!

I am actually living in shorts and t-shirts on warm days and leggings/jeans and sweatshirts on cold days, try and find simple black leggings that aren't flimsy and flash your undies, almost impossible. I thought about using the unused dust bags as face masks, but then they usually do not tell what the material is, and tbh, at a time where so many people are suffering from hardship and job loss, I would feel like I am rubbing it in...

In a way I suspect some people are buying the full evening gowns to cheer themselves up and have something to look forward to?

OK, but the NYPOST is a notorious rag, sued countless times for twisting the truth, I don't know about the other outlet, I noticed the only quote verbatim, no video to support it, let us assume for a moment that what she said is true, she doesn't speak for the whole movement. In the UK there were massive riots a few years back, the looters weren't minorities, they were mostly white and simply criminals or people being caught up in the whole "Oh let's take it, everybody else does it" - if you flip skin colour for a moment and it would be a cops of colour killing Caucasian people, kneeling on their throats ad all that, what kind of riots do you think would happen then?

WBEZ is Chicago’s NPR news radio station and you can google the name I posted above and watch is NBC news worthy enough for you?

Without going super political - I think the sentiment is right - there are a few things to consider during the current social protest movement - America hasn't bothered to own up to promised reparations and doesn't seem to be looking to bother with it. And in terms of harm caused, on the scheme of things Chanel loosing a few $100K of merchandise isn't going to hurt them. So it is a "victimless crime" and maybe is a way to make up for the broken promises of the republic. [Big brand] represents this capitalist system that has been exclusionary, so hit them in their pocket book.

Of course there are plenty of people who do not care about the cause at all who are just causing mischief. And that isn't really justified on any level.

I think you will find that the looters are usually not people who care for the cause but just blatant opportunists

No, afraid it isn't. If is is for you, then fine, but I prefer a bit more critical thinking, which you made clear is not for everyone, especially if it doesn't feed into prejudices, on that note, I offer you a "go well" because I really don't swallow propaganda as readily as you do, and will invoke that blessed ignore button, I wish you a great life and I am happy that I do not have to read your posts anymore. I think most of the "troublemakers" have zero interest in the cause. But there are a handful using looting as a valid for of protest. I also live in Oakland, and I know the damage and the perception that comes with scenes of "riots" and "looting." Downtown Oakland barely had a chance to come back from Occupy movement till the next wave of civil rights protests showed up (Oscar Grant, and then every 2 years since then).

As someone who is in Chicago and watched the same interviews live, I don’t know how to spell it out clearer for you that our local NPR station is... not conservative propaganda. It’s probably one of the most liberal broadcasts in the country.

I personally do not believe that the looters were even from Chicago. I believe they were opportunists who sought cover under the protests for the sole purpose of stealing designer goods.

But Ariel did say those things and judging by comments in various neighborhood groups, it greatly impacted how follow up protests were perceived.

It’s really easy to preach about a “victimless crime” but Michigan Ave boarded up is costing people their jobs, will affect our tax revenue which we need to fund social programs on the west and south sides, and is even affecting the real estate market (thus impacting the personal finances of many, including seniors looking to retire).

So, no. We are not keyboard warrioring today.

Well I have done this, in my experience it is because I bought it and never used it, because I realized too late it didn't go with my style/outfits, I didn't have an occasion to use it, or I ended up not liking something about it, and listing it for consignment or selling it is better than just having a bag I will never use sitting in my closet forever. I'd rather get some money back and put it toward something new I will use.
