So I live by the 10 bag rule and it was not because I heard it from this bop person you refer to. As I don't Instagram and definitely do not watch you tube videos. Heck it's bad enough I am a part of the forum but it is a place to come where many people share the same love for bags. Any who I don't necessarily do the one in one out but I will stay at that 10 bag threshold as I feel it does keep things in perspective. I may not even have a bag in mind that I want to let go of one that I have not used in months. I don't believe in spending thousands of dollars on a bag I am going to use once or twice a year for occasions. Really depending on the bags you are buying it does not makes sense to have a bunch of bags of a certain magnitude just sitting in a closet not being used - that to me is a waste if you want to talk about waste. Here's the deal as we mature over time lifestyles change, financial situations change (hopefully for the better), taste changes and even in some cases environments change. What worked for me last year may not work for me this year. So as far as being strategic in our purchases - I believe we are for that particular time in our lives. The same goes for clothes as I am pushing fifty and I guarantee you the clothes I wore when I was twenty will not be worn today. . .and I was strategic in what I bought back then - just doesn't work now. The reason I pick ten bags is because I feel like any more than that it is almost impossible to use all of them and I change bags daily. Also hording a bunch of bags can be overwhelming to say the least at some point and time. And not sure just how much you have sold but you are quite wrong in your perception of what is actually earned/lost. I can say really for the bags I have sold I have either broken even or I have made a little bit depending on the bag in question. As far as selling to Fashionphile or yoogis that is a big no no in my book because they definitely do not give you what you could make on your own but I do understand not everyone wants the hassle. Also bag worth really depends on a ton of factors: condition of the bag, type of bag, designer, material, discontinued or just plain not available, are you the original owner, location, receipt/proof of purchase and original packaging. A lot of variables will definitely play a part in what your bag is worth. Not to mention in your assessment you should also calculate the time in which you owned the bag. So if I had a bag for three or four years maybe longer and I decide to sell loosing let's say taxes I paid or even a couple hundred - hmmm think I got my money’s worth. And you would be surprised what people will pay for a bag in excellent condition! Heck I am every time. At the end of the day bags are not trophies to sit on shelves to look at nor are they investments (as some may think) - they are bags that are meant to be used. There is my perspective.
