Why do people buy pre-loved Chanel at such high prices?

I buy preowned because:

• I’ve seen the quality to be superior to current
• I prefer single flap jumbos which are no longer manufactured
• I don’t follow Chanel launches so I may find out about a certain color / leather after it’s sold out.
• I despise in person shopping in general and refuse to deal with Chanel’s every growing carnival of crazy to purchase in specific
• Money saved is money earned. There is no pride in spending more just because I have the funds. Quite the opposite - I’m savvy to get the same item for less.

Both of my Chanel bags are vintage. I have a flap with 24K hardware on my wishlist.

I see the value in that more because it goes beyond leather and a design.

Also, no shame in my game for wanting to keep handbag purchases to a certain dollar point. Higher than that and we’re talking artwork, jewelry, remodeling, Frenchie (we spent over $20K on vet bills last year) money…

It's just easier to see a variety of collections and colors online instead of hunting stuff down in person. Much of the stuff online I'd never come across in a boutique since it might be older collections/vintage, or from other states or countries. So, convenience is the number one factor, and also the liberal return policies that most online shops have. If I don't like something I'm not obligated to keep it and many online sellers will even buy it back from you. It also just makes me feel better to be a reduce-reuse-recycle person and not buy new all the time.

Great reasons above. The bottom three apply to me. I've had two boutique purchases at different locations (one in Paris and one at my local boutique) and none were spectacular enough for me to feel compelled to cultivate a relationship with a particular SA.) Ain't nobody got time for that.

The only downside to my shopping pre-owned is I typically end up buying sight unseen. It's worked out for me this far!
