Why Do People Buy Fake Designer Bags Or Fake Designer Anything?

I think the status of a brand plays into this. I don't understand why else they would buy a fake. Some Hermes bags cost more than 30K. Many people will never be able to save that for a bag. I think they should ask themselves why is that bag that I can't afford so important to me? Instead of buying a fake.

What kills me is some of the cars. I found these on the web. Even the four girls are mocking that LV car.

for reals? Where is this? I've never seen anything like that . . . posers! LOL! I'm embarrassed just thinking about it :s

Swanky you would be surprised how popular that is. Putting Bentley logos on a Chrysler 300 is very popular. The Chrysler 300 is such a knock off, it makes it easy. That's what the first one is.
The second is a Silverado pickup turned Escalade.
A Corolla that has a Mercedes logo.
The ever rare Honda Jag .
And the Chevy Malibu BMW.

I would never dream of buying a LV or a Chanel (even if I could afford it...) due to the sheer number of people who own ugly fakes!

lol I guess it depends where you live. I'v seen very few fake LV bags here, everyone goes for fake coach, fake D&G, fake prada, and fake vera bradley (yeah idek). The only fake chanel I see are the black/ white or pink/white cambon totes.

Anyways There so much fake everything It would'nt keep me from buying what I want to.

I tend to get designer bags that are the least popular here, or at least without the monograms or signature; these are the ones most pirated where I live, because such designs are the most recognizable characteristics of a designer bag. And yes, lots of fake LVs, Gucci and Coach here.

I am not sure about pirated stuff going towards the funding of terrorism, since most of the pirated stuff here comes from China. But I am against it for intellectual property rights violation.

I do agree with Mish that a LOT of the postings did come off elitist especially where people say 'it means this or that about a person's character' and/or 'the person must be fake too' or the person is a 'poser'. Personally, I could care less where people spend their money. I probably would care a lot more if I owned a fashion house or created the designs that are being knocked off but as average consumer...I just don't care. I don't buy fakes, so that's doing my part. BUT, I am not going to look down upon/judge/put down the people that do. I also would never confront somebody about their fashion choices (fake or real). Seems like it would be dangerous to do that in this day and time.

I agreed.

When people say they like the look I think thats a line of bull. Because, why would they insist so much to have a name on the bag & then go out and get a fake. Its like a status symbol to them. But they think 'oh no one will know'. But in reality everyone knows! I think its rediculous, they could go out and get like a Dooney Bourke on sale, Guess, or other department store bags thats are NOT coping these designers.

I agree but designers such as dooney or guess are soooo not original. they copy designer such as gucci or LV. I just think having a brandless name bag is your best way to go.

I just want to say that as fake and nasty as fakes are some just cant aford the real deal. I mean how could you bring yourself to paying 2000$ on a bag when you dont have money for rent. for some the fake is as close as they will ever get to the real deal. I feel soo bad for them:tdown::tdown::tdown:
