What I need is a hard wearing satchel, under $300. Top handles and a cross body strap. No flap on the opening. Tough. I'm no good at babying my bags. It'll spend most of its days on the floor (clean area away from shoes and garbage) under my desk at work.

I prefer natural brown or black, but might be sold on a color. But nothing pastel. Blech. No pink.

I currently carry a dooney Florentine satchel, and I love it, but I want something new!

I'm thinking maybe a Michael kors Sutton, but there are probably wonderful things out there I don't know about.

So... What would you be looking for?

The only thing i recall with the Sutton is people saying the crossbody strap tugs, i would suggest heading on over to the MK forum specifically the sutton thread for more pros/cons.

Lumi is my best bet for bags that wear like iron. I love the Supermarket line, which is made of tough, slightly pebbled leather and all the bags have interchangeable straps; you get 2 short and a long one.
For a bag that's made of squishy soft leather and with the strap options you wanted readily installed, look no further than Soft Line and Paola; the leather is very durable and smooth, and won't mind being thrown around a bit.

I agree on coach as well. The ace satchel is on sale for $297 in the boutique I was at. I think they're unique. And yeah, also online they have a lot of bags for 40% off. Free shipping as well.




I had a sutton MK on the small version and loved it bc of the zipper pockets/organizational details of it. I didn't baby it either and although it looks like the bag is strained when you carry it (check along the hooks that attach the crossbody straps to the bag and you'll know what I mean) it's actually very sturdy ♡

Turns out our tj maxx has a bunch. I may just go with an MK Selma. I think I'm liking it more than the Sutton. And they had a bunch of navy ones for $150. I like navy. It's tempting, even though I really should wait till after my birthday (January 21. It's so far away.)

Definitely a supporter of the Sutton. I've had it for around a year, but I put it to the true test when I've been traveling this week. It fits a lot more than you'd think (I have the medium). Super cute and sturdy without being ridiculously heavy. I don't baby my bags either, but mine still looks brand new after a year! Seems like it would be a good fit

I can say wonderful things about the Coach Rhyder satchel (size 33 I believe). It has a short handle and a shoulder strap, is beautiful leather and perfectly slouchy but still holds it's shape.

I'm loving mine!
