Honestly, if not for Paris Hilton and the Harper's Bazaar articles, I wouldn't know the names or faces of any of these people. They just aren't that important.

I nominate Megs as my favorite socialite. She and Vlad do run an entire fashion related social networking site after all. I think she counts. Plus she has a Birkin--what more do you need to qualify? j/k!

I actually think that the socialites of today are pretty great. They look great and dress great, and in my opinion, they have the best fashion sensibility and knowledge around when we are talking about women gracing the pages of Gotham and Harpers and Vogue and Visionaire. Rarely do they use stylists, and it is the socialite ladies of Manhattan that some of the most talented designers, if not the most well known, have chosen as their muses and inspiration.

Socialites are not just about dollar signs and parties...women like Sally Albemarle and Aerin Lauder and Cecilia Dean are completely changing the face of fashion and business and art. To me, they are way more reminiscent of Coco and Diane Vreeland than the gals of Hollywood would ever be...

And Megs...that is exactly what I am talking about...a powerhouse woman who is forever changing the face of fashion...Although I've never seen her, nor talked to her, nor met her, I'm positive that she is an incredible caliber woman. That is not even debatable. :heart:

My favourite socialites are Lisa Airan (always perfect in her outfits, love her style) and Arden Wohl, whose headpieces are such an original touch to very different outfits!

I definitely am a fan of a few socialites, dislike many of them though.
