The small puffer has arrived. I absolutely love it. It’s lightweight and, although bigger than what I thought I wanted, it is perfect size for the things I wanted to carry. I don’t even have to change out my zippy wallet. I had a little liner that fitted too. I have accumulated about 10 liners over recent years!). I think it’s the crinkled matte leather that was in the original puffer line? Someone may know more than me about this though. The date code indicates March 2020.

I haven’t received the envelope or toy Loulou yet but I think they’ll be going back now.

Black on black is always so chic!:coolio:

Yes, looking at the items you wish to put into a bag, I'd say neither the small envelope nor the toy loulou would be big enough for your items.

Congratulations! Enjoy your new bag!

I would've been happy to use a card holder rather than the zippy in a smaller bag and probably would've dumped the make up purse too but perhaps I am just not meant to be a 'small bag' girl!

All have arrived now. I’m definitely keeping the puffer but feel like I still need a small bag and can’t decide if it should be the Toy Loulou, Small envelope, or another bag altogether. Maybe just a ‘cheaper’ Coach or similar. If I think of cost vs versatility then it probably should be the Loulou as it’s a cheaper for virtually the same size bag. Anyway, I’ve put some pics for those who would like to see…

Left to right
1. Small puffer black aged calfskin & black hardware
2. Toy Loulou in black calfskin with silver/nickel hardware
3. Small envelope is grain de poudre with gold hardware D519F7DD-A538-463F-B2DB-0E31F7453663.jpegDBE6095D-EE38-4260-9326-D4A964D5D54A.jpeg56DE1B98-70A2-4A78-BDD5-69FD4188407E.jpeg

Between the toy loulou and small envelope bag it is a tough decision. Between the bag styles I like the toy loulou but I also prefer gold hardware. Tough choice but oooh, such a fun choice to make!

If you are open to looking at other mini bags, I really like the Givenchy mini pandora box bag with either the chain or guitar strap where you can swap out the guitar strap for a chain. (I don't care for the one with a thin leather strap.) They are only available preloved though. Since I have that bag in black I have never really been too interested in the toy loulou in black.

The Coach pillow madison 18 is also super cute but it is very small capacity wise. It's not a bad option though if you find a color combo you like esp if you can pick it up on sale. I think they have the 18 in black now if you like black. I do not like though that I think the top will eventually crease with use.

If you would like to have the toy loulou or the small envelope as a small bag and it's within your budget to keep one of them, I'd say its best to be realistic with yourself and know which one works better for your lifestyle and items.

There are styles/designs that I chose over practicality (or what I need to put into a bag on a daily basis) and in the end, the bag was neglected and ended up having to be resold at a loss (of course YSL isn't the type of brand to hold value that well in general)
Especially with YSL becoming more and more popular (among the younger generation and also because of the more affordable pricepoint), I can forsee more YSL being on the resale market even more than before, and with more on the pre-loved market, the more the price will drop, and the more of a loss it will be for those who want to re-sell their bags.
This issue is currently happening with some Gucci items like the Gucci marmont. Even worse, resellers are declining to accept the bag because they already have too many in stock.
So, just don't be like me and make this kind of mistake lol. :P

I agree with recent posts above. I’ve made the mistake of getting gorgeous bags that don’t work for me and taking a hit reselling. Going through it right now. I’m also disheartened by the resale value of YSL. I think that the Lou Lou series resells the best though. The envelope might as well because it’s a higher price point. I recommend the toy Lou Lou if you want casual to night and fun changing with different straps like guitar, chain or top handle. I enjoy that with my toy Lou Lou. I didn’t have the budget for envelope or puffer so I vote for those because they are so gorgeous and you could get a preloved excellent condition toy Lou Lou. If you want your small bag for more going out at night but could cross over to day - envelope is a good choice. I also love the pillow series by Coach and owned and sold them haha they didn’t work for my lifestyle but the quality is gorgeous. Coach has a lot of cute mini bags with beautiful leather.

Thank you both for your detailed advice. You are totally correct about resale and taking a hit. I have done that a fair few times over the last couple of years and YSL has been one of the brands I’ve realised does not hold its value at all. I think with the last extortionate price increase that the preloved market has been inundated with resale bags that are 2-3 years old and being priced at today‘s prices. I think realistically for me that the cost of both these bags is not going to reflect the use I want to get so I’m more than likely going to return both. I do love my puffer now though and very pleased to get that at £1k off the current price of a puffer!

In this case where the whole fam is here, I retract my statement for the toy loulou! Get the envelope for more evening/ formal events for sure! Congrats!
