I have primarily collected Cartier, Dior, and random individual designers for fine jewelry and am considering expanding my collecting into VCA. Which would you pick to start?

I was in the same boat as you and went for the necklace & no regrets . My idea was I work in the hospital and no way can i have such a bracelet at work but the necklace I could wear literally 24/7 minus to shower. The bracelet came later on .

If you want instant gratification, pendant (or earrings) you can pretty much wear walking out the store. Bracelets- most ladies here shorten the lengths so that can take 2-3 weeks. You can of course choose to wear first and then bring it back for adjustment within 3 months.

I’d say it depends what you think you’ll wear the most depending on your current collection.
Bracelets are nice because you can look at them all day long. On the other hand, I find that a pendant is a more noticeable piece to others because it is close to your face. It makes more of an impression and adds more to your outfit I think.

You should get whichever piece makes your heart race!! My first piece was a YG MOP necklace and I have no regrets. I wear my VCA all the time bc life is short!!
I did a pendant for my first purchase, then a bracelet 6 months later. I'll likely get another bracelet this year. Bracelets are a little annoying because unless it fits you perfectly, you might need to get it shortened and then you can't wear it for a few weeks (mine is sent off for shortening now after I put off doing it for a few months).

Does anyone know if I can do bracelet shortening through online ordering? My closest VCA is inside the Neiman Marcus in San Francisco and I’m limiting going out and interacting with others due to the new covid variants

I think you can! I've heard of Youtubers who did this. You would basically be sending it off to get serviced. The only thing is how short do you know you need it? Our boutique has this mock 5 motif bracelet with links shortened so you can try it at the desired length and see how it fits. Some people prefer looser vs. tighter. Our boutique will only allow the bracelet to be sent off once for a free service, any other time after that is paid, so I feel like it could be safer to go into the store.
I'll just add that you can also order from a SA at a boutique and arrange to have it shortened if needed.
My 1st VCA purchase was a MOP YG bracelet, and I'm planing to get another Alhambra bracelet this year. I'm waiting to see if I like the new Lucky Alhambra. However, I wear pendants and earrings a lot more than my bracelets. If I would be getting my 1st VCA piece now, it would be in this order: 1) earrings, 2) pendant, and 3) bracelet (all Vintage Alhambra of course).
Mine was a necklace (Magic MOP) as it was more of a statement piece and I wear necklaces all the time. Bracelet came shortly thereafter!!! After I got the necklace, I NEEDED the bracelet
