Following an advice from my mother, to store the Rolex she has gifted to my for my degree on a watchwinder, I found one on internet and bought it. I placed watch and winder in my sleeping room and now after several month, the winder started to make a terrible sound, so loud that i can't sleep any more. I'd like to keep the watch in my sleeping area, so I'd like to ask you if you can give me any recomendation for a silent watchwinder, which will not turn into a terrible soundmachine after a while?

I have a Wolf. Got it off Amazon (I think, sorry). It is quiet unless I put the watch on it crooked (then I just fix it). It has a little blinky light that blinks when it is running which I like--I sometimes forget to switch it on when it's late and I am sleepy so seeing the blinky light lets me know it's winding away. I have had it for a few years and no loud noises at all.

Good luck and congrats on your degree :smartass:and your watch. And congrats on having such a generous Mom!

Thank you for your recommendation and congratulations. I'd have one more question. Is your watch winder battery operated? I think it would be handy if I could put it and the watch in the safe, or is it too big for that anyway?

I have a single Wolf watch winder. I recall it being quiet when it was winding, now I can hear it. The blinking light bothers me at night, so I placed a card over the light to alleviate that. I purchased it from the jeweler that I bought my Rolex from.

we paid $277 each and now they are $625 each
We have his and hers and love them.
It’s quiet and I cut black thick cards size of winder to lean against its front covering light.

it’s battery operated or can be plugged in. It is sized to fit inside a safe using battery.
Thank you very much! Wow, that's a steep increase. To sleep in silence seems to be pretty costly, since I have two watches that would be worth storing in the safe (not to forget the one of my fiancé!)

Hopefully I'll find something a little bit cheaper!

For this amount, you may already be able to buy one of these. This is a safe with a built-in watch winder. I have a few of them and I'm quite satisfied. There is no out of the safe - into the safe anymore. They make them for three or more watches. The brand is called Safewinder, you can find it on the internet.

Thank you for your information! I'll have a closer look, although I'm light years away from needing a few! LOL

Wolf, it holds 3 or 4, can’t remember despite using it everyday lol
It has a great compartment on top that can be locked along with the glass door to the winder

I know this is an old thread but I just got my 1st Rolex & am wondering if it's necessary to get a winder for it since I won't be wearing it daily.. I'm a tennis player so most days I'm wearing my sports watch & then I have a bunch of other watches (chanel, michelle, apple, chopard etc) so I'm worried about my Rolex sitting around for just special occasions.. is it better to just manually wind it the times I'll wear it or keep it on a winder continuously? Thx!!!

Some people swear by them and some people don’t. I think I was told decades ago that a winder could over tax one’s watch, but they’re probably more sophisticated nowadays. And, it is a PITA to set one’s watch every time you decide you want to wear it. Perhaps ask your AD?
