Ah! Now I get it! Funny, I was also reading the Diana thread, saw the bit about the handles, and figured out the pearl solution. There is another bag, a tote with a wide handle, that has an interesting solution also. The hardware holds the handle in shape. It's not my kind of bag, but the handle solution is clever.

The classic top handle is growing on me, like the one in this wonderful video short, "I bamboo you."

Really? Heck, I've never even seen this bag before yesterday. I'm glad I asked my awkwardly broad question. I pretty much only knew the Soho Disco and Marmont bags. I knew there was this weird bamboo obsession, but I couldn't understand it. It always looked uncomfortable, so I just looked away.

Oh, I also knew the Billie Eilish suit (shutter).

I cannot tell how functional the iconic top handle bag is in the video, but I think I love it.

Had I a clue, maybe I would have tried to compare a top handle medium with the Nymphea small, but two days ago I was just a babe.

Celebrities used to wear that saddle-shaped bamboo handle bag decades ago. On holidays in Italy I have seen cakes resembling this bag next to LV Speedy cakes. Therefore for me it is the most iconic Gucci bag but this is my subjective opinion and other people surely have different views.

As we know, many current Gucci bags repeat more or less brand’s rich heritage.

Agree. Bamboo handle=quintessential Gucci.

As someone who’s only ever bought LV (sprinkled with a couple of Chanel bags) I’ve wanted to venture out, because I’ve become very put off with LV for many reasons. I recently purchased a preloved Sukey off of Fashionphile in amazing condition and for an excellent price. I don’t think the Sukey looks dated, it’s quite casual and nice. It compliments my casual style of cardigans and kimonos. I just ordered the Ophidia GG small shoulder bag yesterday from the Gucci website.

There are many pictures of different size Nymphaeas on the second hand market places.

I was just checking the state of the bamboo handles after I read from the Diana thread that they may become misshapen at some point. I believe Nymphaea has these pearl decorations next to the handles for the same reason that Diana has this detachable leather belt (to maintain the original shape). I hadn’t thought this before but now it has to be my favourite design feature of this bag.

I don't think the handles on yours will be misshapen. They are set in place with metal, which can serve as a permanent brace. Looks amazing by the way.
