Which Vintage Gucci Would You Rather: Soho Disco, Nymphaea, or Sukey?

I don’t think these bags are considered vintage? Anyway, depends on your needs. Disco is small but is a great little bag. I’ve travelled with it. I like sukey (in leather) but it’s strictly hand carry. It will hold much more. Do you want hand carry or crossbody? As for the third one you mentioned, I think that’s the bamboo handle? Photos might help more members respond. Really depends on your needs.

You're right. What a ridiculous question in a vacuum.

I'm not a Gucci gal, but I've been interesting in learning more. It's not even my needs that i'm sure I want to satisfy, it's more like...I was feeling voyeuristic. Looking for something new to look at. These seemed like an interesting point to start. And I should have said "pre-loved" not vintage.

Here is some eye candy.

If I only had to have one gucci, it would be a vintage bamboo handle handcarry but in an exotic. Or perhaps a velvet dionysus. I’m not fond of those with a strap attached to the handle hardware. It seems out of place.

I love the gucci disco, but dislike camera bags. I associate camera bags with a certain 1980s style that doesn’t seem to ever work with my aesthetic. I prefer the flap style. But then, I wouldn’t carry one to travel with (too bulky and doesnt hold enough). and for day to day, when I just want to carry a little bit, I use an H Evelyne tPM or a chanel so black mini.

the sukey is an older style, maybe 1990s? but not old enough to be attractive vintage for me. I used to love a short shoulder carry, but not in many years. I think it looks dated, and not in a good way. Also the sukey makes me feel overweight (yep, I’m crazy

In that silhouette, I prefer a BV hobo.

By the way, I could be totally incorrect in all of my decade references.

JMO of course!

I totally get the overweight comment. I have a Tod's that makes me feel like that. It's a similar shape, as a matter of fact.

I cannot figure out what I Think about bamboo handles overall. Some days, I think they're fun. Other days, I think they're weird. What I think I like about the Nymph is that it is lamb. I don't mind the size for an everyday bag. It reminds me of my LV Mongaigne BB, which is a shape I love.

I like bamboo handle because it’s different and classic Gucci. The Gucci Diana bag officially launches tomorrow which has bamboo handles so bamboo will definitely be “in”. Good luck deciding.

I have a soft spot for bamboo handles and my small Nymphaea from 2-3 years back is one of my favorite bags. The shoulder strap doesn’t attach to the handles. I don’t consider it to be vintage (at least not yet) even though it’s discontinued. The shape is timeless and I really appreciate the minimal design without big logos.

I also have a Disco and it’s a great bag too. I prefer Nymphaea though because of the overall design and the fact that it has a removable strap that Disco doesn’t have. And even that Disco is considered to be one of the Gucci classics, for me personally those bamboo handles are perhaps the most classic feature of a Gucci bag. So if I would only have one Gucci bag, I would choose one with bamboo.

Thanks for this. I couldn't figure out where the straps attached. There is little out there about the Nymphea. It really does seem to be similar to the LV Montaigne BB, which I love, but 1) the straps do attach at the handles, and 2) there is major logo activity.

Truth be told, I also have a Disco and love it, but my Disco hardly counts as a true Gucci anymore. I bought a real beast that was just about ready for the dumpster and turned it into something of an art bag. The texture is entirely different. But I recall loving the feel of an unmolested Disco.

Nevertheless, I am very interested in the Nymphea. I'd like to see one IRL or even a few good YouTubes.

I'm thinking I might snag a pre-loved Gucci before the movie comes out and, possibly, drives the pre-loved market up.

Hmmm.....so, what happens if the bamboo breaks on your pre-loved bag. Will Gucci repair it for a cost?
Don’t know but I can’t imagine it breaking. I have a vintage bamboo handle (circa 2000) and it’s pretty hardy. Never heard of anyone having a breaking issue but I suppose it’s possible. If your fearful, don’t buy a preloved one.

Nymphaea has separate loops for attaching the shoulder strap. My bag is in the small size with two bamboo handles and a leather strap.

There are many pictures of different size Nymphaeas on the second hand market places.

I was just checking the state of the bamboo handles after I read from the Diana thread that they may become misshapen at some point. I believe Nymphaea has these pearl decorations next to the handles for the same reason that Diana has this detachable leather belt (to maintain the original shape). I hadn’t thought this before but now it has to be my favourite design feature of this bag.

Good luck deciding! 9CD53B8D-1498-4B71-AB71-F5FA0877A472.jpeg
