Hiya, so I'm looking for a Tiffany bangle around the £400 mark as a self-indulgent treat. I have my eyes on this piece of silver:

Alternatively, there is a vintage Tiffany gold bangle (14K) currently available for a similar amount:

I really like both and the pros and cons are as followed:

Silver bangle:
Con Tiffany silver does not hold its value well and currently all the Tiffany pieces I own are silver. Perhaps it's time to upgrade?

Pro I really love the classic design and believe I will wear it for a long time to come.

Gold bangle:
Con It's such a simple piece and lack any design aspect. I can easily purchase a 18K/platinum bracelet like this for the price (or less) if I don't go down the 'designer route', especially if I go to Asia (as planned for next year). Plus they're likely to be more substantial in weight (thickness more like the silver bangle) so look less plain on its own.

Pro It's Tiffany gold! And not readily available.

Really would appreciate some thoughts here ladies :) I'm horrible at making decisions and normally would just go with 'oh let's get both of them', but this is supposed to be an occasional treat. Thanks!

You said you own a lot of Tiffany silver so it would make sense to buy the silver one, especially that you said that you know you will wear it for a long time. If you want to buy a gold bracelet you can always buy a similar one for less, especially that this design is not something typical for Tiffany.

Does it have to be from tiffany? If you must go with tiffany then the silver one would probably be better cos you are right that you can get a similar gold one much cheaper elsewhere. I live in Asia and there are loads of gold bangles like the second one available here, though most are at least 18k or 22k. In fact, i have a couple of these myself.

I actually prefer the design of the gold one but in my opinion it is not worth getting something like that from tiffany.

Personally, I like the gold bangle more :)

Oh I love how simple yet stunning the gold bracelet is, go for the gold!
Thanks guys for your views - I definitely want to jump on the gold bandwagon soon (I went through a silver-toned phase so all I own are silver, platinum and wg).

Value wise, of course the gold wins. But are you happy with the design?

I do like the simplicity and will definitely go for something like this in the future. I just question whether the 'Tiffany' gold is worth it or if I go for a thicker non-designer gold piece, the value may be more in the long run.

That's how I feel too, but then I think it's Tiffany's! I really live up to the Pieces reputation

I want to expand my collection to include other Tiffany things eventually and saw the opportunity here, so was wavering from my initial decision - auctions pile on so much time pressure and makes me want things now, lol. Thanks for your input!

I'm not too fond of the gold being 14k, but I definitely prefer the simplicity of the design of the gold over that of the silver one.

Your post reminded me of this song...thought it was appropriated given the time of year.

Ooh, I'm definitely checking out the YT video after this! Thanks for your input! If I go to Asia, I will definitely try for 24K, which is harder to get in the UK, plus they're at an exorbitant price in comparison.

I have always loved that silver one. So i choose the silver. The gold looks plain and boring to me.

Lol, thanks! When I was browsing through bangles on the Tiffany website, my stomach just jumped and I knew that was the silver design I wanted.

I would definitely like to get a bangle from Tiffany and am determined to treat one to myself :D

I think I'm swaying towards silver more and more now based on everyone's opinions and it's reassuring to know there is definitely that option of a gold bracelet at a cheaper price in Asia! (Last went in 2009 and I really don't want to know how much the price increased from then *gulp*. Keep wishing I bought more when I was there, lol).

I've always loved Tiffany silver, I own a Paloma Picasso heart bangle and I love it to death so my vote goes to the silver one;)

Ooh, can't quite recall that design off the top of my head - will have to check for it now! Thanks for your input!
I LOVE the silver .. what is the name of it, I goggled heart lock and got the regular link bracelets

It's the lock bangle:

It's pretty, no? :D There's a similar one with two diamonds that I might try for later.
