Which pieces of jewelery is it worth getting the best quality diamonds for?

If the diamonds are smaller, you can get away with lower clarity. I have a 2tw (a little less) tennis bracelet, the diamonds are all SI2 and I1butthe coloris good and the cut is good enough so that you can't tell.

In summary, if you had loose stones you'd put the highest quality into your ring, the next highest into necklaces, the lowest into earrings?

Yes. My diamond studs are the least in clarity and colour. I would prefer them to be better but they were a gift from MIL so I will keep them as is until I pass them to one of my children.

for me, I would select the highest quality diamond for a solitaire ring, medium quality for a solitaire necklace, & lower for earrings. of course, the cut & proportions make all the difference, & you have to see the stones to make a real choice. as far as pave is concerned, I think the stones should be similar quality to each other, but the general overall quality depends on the center stone that they support.

Which pieces of jewelry do you think are worth worrying about the quality of diamond and which aren't? Which are the bottom quality/color/cut you would consider for:

stud earrings
solitaire necklaces
solitaire rings
and how about for pave anything...

Rings.

It's the item of jewelry that gets the closest scrutiny.
Other than that, Pave pieces aside, it's also the piece of jewelry that you yourself check out most often (you need a mirror to look at your necklace or earrings).

Diamonds in Pave are very small so you can afford to be less stringent compared to a larger solitaire diamond where flaws are more evident.
