Is it not as good as I once thought? It seems that Balenciaga fetches a lot more. Do you think if it's kept in great condition it could get a fair amount back? OR is it a fact that LV doesn't hold much value after it's been worn? Any thoughts?

i have bought and sold a few pieces here in canada. the slgs seem to keep their value quite well. dirty vachetta seems to really devalue a bag IMHO.
I think things may just be a little slow right now. It seems you have to have the HOT bag of the moment to get the best price though.
I think the re-sale value is not as good as one may think (unless it was a special, limited edition or new release bag), but they do hold their value much more than other brands (for example: Gucci or Prada). IMO, Balencaiga will probably hold thier value more due to the fact that there is less botiques around (esp. in Australia) and thus less numbers of their bags and in certain colors?
I haven't sold any of my LV bags but the few I have bought through ebay and Fashionphile/Yoogi's Closet (after getting it authenticated here), I've purchased at about 10%-25% 'discount' from the original price depending on the bag's condition. If it's a LE, it seems to go the other way...that is I end up paying 10+% than the original cost.
For what I know consignment store buy pre-loved item -30% of the original price then they assess ur bag condition.
I've sold some of my lvs. I sold it for more than I paid for on a mono Alma...but it was used less than 5 times. I sold two speedies close to retail price but they were also mint...used less than 5 times.
I think whether the bag will hold it's value depends on the type of bag and it's condition. The ones I sold will always be a classic and be in style. But many other bags are dated and not popular anymore so they would not retain their value as well.
I noticed that Chanel bags are more of an investment than lv bags since the value of chanels go up every year due to their crazy price hikes. My medium beige flap which cost me $1700 a couple of years back currently retails for $3500 or $3700 something crazy like that. I've seen them sell for over $3000 used condition!

However, Neverfulls in particular seem to have a very high resale value. I have been thinking about purchasing a GM in Ebene and I've been keeping an eye on eBay. Most of the good condition Neverfulls on eBay in the UK are selling for around £100 less than current retail price. This is good for Neverfull owners, but for me, I'd rather just pay the extra £100 and get a brand new one!
