Please make suggestions! I extremely appreciate ALL opinions. This is a halston heritage cocktail dress that I am wearing to a party mid December on a Saturday night. I thought I'd wear my black ceramic j12 watch with diamond markers on one wrist and a black bead bracelet on other and a big Miguel ases earring. But my mom said to not wear black jewelry and to wear my white gold sapphire bracelet and a stainless steel watch. Thoughts?

I think your ideas sound great - black on wrists and big earrings. No necklace - let the neckline show off! Purple nails :-) You look great!
I agree about the jewellery but I'd go with very dark nails, not necessarily a black but a deep red that looks black - Linkin Park after dark or Blackcurrant chutney, both by OPI.

What do the earrings look like?

Beautiful dress btw.

Beautiful dress...looks great on you!
I agree with Foxgal and TOB...no necklace, big earring and black on the wrists.
Oh...and black shoes! Let that gorgeous dress sing!!!

I agree too. As for nails I would go with what makes you comfortable. I always have light nails and feel funny when I do dark for something special. If you're comfortable dark I would do an almost black shade, I know there are some very dark purples out now that look almost black. If you like light do the French. You didn't say if your black shoes were pumps or sandals/open toes, if you do light nails you can always do your toes dark. Very beautiful dress, have fun!

Thanks so much! I have gel nails so I will look at at the dark colors tomorrow. I have black shoes. When I get a chance, I'll post pic of my earring . My mom will not be happy with my choices. She said no black on wrists. 😞

I would go with a metallic strappy sandal for shoes.

Would work well.

You could do silver or gold. I'd probably do a soft gold.

I wouldn't wear a watch with the dress.

I'd do a simple bracelet in a metal or rhinstone.

but I'd wear big green earrings. Something like this:

The dress has a lot of volume and you need a good anchor for it.

Saligator - interesting ideas! I love the shoes and the earrings. I never would have thought of introducing green in my wildest dreams. But those earrings are stunning. I will look at those shoes this week in nordstroms. I'm intrigued......

saligator - At Saks, there is a Kenneth Jay Lane green square cut cluster chandelier earring. What do you think of those? The zappos ones are clip and I think that wouldn't be comfortable on me. Thanks!

I had those earrings. They're great, beautiful color and I love the idea of green with the dress. Unfortunately I had to return them cuz they were a lot bigger than I thought, ordered on line, and they also stretched out my lobes. But I don't usually wear big earrings so maybe you'll have better luck.

I'm not sure, you'd have to see them. Why I suggested the other ones (or something like it) is the SOLID shape of color contrast to the purple.

The ones you selected, if they are these:

Have a replicating pattern. On the one hand it might be interesting, but on the other, they might compete with the pattern in the dress.

The dress is a big piece -- so your accessories need to compliment it, but not compete with it and the pattern in the earrings you selected may do that.
