Mods, I will see if there is a thread like this one. I don't mean to repeat. But it is good to know if someone had a bad experience with a bag no matter the make and model. All brands are welcome. I feel strongly enough that I wanted to start this thread to warn others, or give everyone a devil's advocate point of view on a certain handbag purchase.

For me my heartbreak was the Stella McCartney Fallabella. I purchased it preowned from Fashionphile and I have since consigned it to someone looking to rehab it though I don't know if it can be fixed. I am not that blessed in the talent required.

points:
1. The silver chain straps are HEAVY. So heavy in fact that the purse cannot support the weight of the chains. Which brings me to my next point.
2. The material used for the purse is too delicate. It is whipstitched to the chain handles, but on my bag the material or 'soft vegan leather" was disintegrating. Imagine babying a bag with no support, and prone to snag or catch onto any protruding objects.
3. The hardware doesn't tarnish, IT PEELS OFF. Fashionphile said it had tarnishing which I figured a good polishing would reset the shine. The beautiful chrome peels off revealing dull steel in its place.

Just wanted to warn you guys so you would be prepared.

@IntheOcean thank you so much for sharing this video. I have become a fan of Sophie. She really tells it like it is. I wish I saw this video before purchasing the bag. I even read in her comments field that as one viewer put it, the bag was so loud that one woman felt like she was being followed by a goat herd!:nuts:

I have gotten over it. Just selling the bag to get some money back. But for real, there is no craftsmanship. This bag was a nightmare from beginning to end. Save your money for a well made bag.

I've mostly had bad luck with "vegan leather" aka pleather. Just because it's expensive doesn't change the nature of the material. I don't mind if the item is cheap and I plan to use only occasionally. I actually am pleasantly surprised with a pair of vegan leather INC mules I've worn a lot for over 2 years and still look great, I only paid $50 and liked the style so I didn't really care how long they actually lasted. I would be mad though if I paid a Stella bag price and the item wore poorly.

Honestly that is what motivated me to post this thread. I couldn't believe that disappointment. I expected a certain level of quality.
But you are correct. It is all manmade. This was an expensive lesson. I should have followed my gut instinct to stay away because it wasn't leather.

That is disappointing. I have a mini Flabella backpack that I have had for several years. I don't particularly baby it but definitely don't throw it around either. I haven't had issues with it, but it is not a daily wear bag for me either. And yes, the chains are heavy but I don't mind as they are super good quality. I've had no issues with peeling/tarnishing hardware. I do know that shape distortion you are referring to with the heavy chains. This is one of the reasons that I went with the backpack instead of regular mini tote style.

I have to say I just love the falabella. I have 2 and think they are just so cool. They go with everything and make all outfits look good whether casual or dressier. The chains are heavy. But I have a small tote and the fact that the bag is not leather makes it doable. Multiple ways to carry it as well. I have had absolutely no quality issues either.

My latest heartbreaker is the Botkier Bite-sized Hudson. I bought it online on 50% off sale so I can’t return it. The edge coating doesn’t quite match the color of the baf, in a really cheap-looking way, and the edge coat is cracked in several places already right out of the box!
Otherwise it’s a good bag, so this a heartbreaker. I wonder if there’s a fix.

I am so sorry. It is so disappointing indeed.

I have a Falabella but the chevron stitched sort of quilted one so it’s thicker than the regular type. It holds its shape well and no issues other than a bit of loose stitching which I think I can fix myself.

The one I have I don’t think looks cheap. It’s all black. I think some do, especially lighter coloured ones.

My phillip Lim Parshli in cobalt blue, large size. I have it since 2013 and i still love it. But it has been sitting in the closet for more than 3 years. I find it too heavy. It is sad to keep such a pretty bag in the closet but i just can’t find any reasons to take it out. On another note, i find that the leather is scratch resistance. The quality is superb but the weight is just too much. Thinking back, I should have gotten the mini one but back then i only liked big bags.
