Which Gucci bags are classic and which are trendy?

I love that Gucci comes out with different bags or reinvents from its own archives. Always in a way that makes perfect sense for a new era. When choosing a new bag I want it to represent the era it was created, even in the future as an icon of that time.

The Jackie or Bouvier, they are different bags. The Jackie has a gusset and the Bouvier (the original) a flat hobo.

The Bardot named after the French actress Brigitte Bardot which is possibly dues for rerelease. The handheld mini Jackies on the recent catwalk are like a hybrid.

The original Britt/Blondie. The Soho line with the interlocking GGs nods to this

The Padlock with comes out in a different form every 10 years or so. Originally, in the 1950s, a 'Kelly style' with a top-handle and lock, lately with a chain.

Bamboo top-handle. Made since 1947 and updated for every new decade. There are new ones at Gucci now.

A guaranteed style that never dates is a black Chanel CF ghw in lambskin, even Hermes Kellys change leathers and colours, people can still both date either by details at first glance.

The Dionysus, the hardware modelled on a 1970s bracelet using a copy of an Ancient relic as inspiration.

The Half-moon, first created as a travel bag. This launched a whole decade of hobos (1970s) that other leather goods houses had to follow.

I think 1955 will be one too (the horse-bit, whatever it's on will always flash 'Gucci').

Another recent reissue. I don't think the Zumi will be brought back but that just makes me think about getting one before they disappear. They are so beautiful.

The Gucci Broadway clutch, whatever shape or size refs Gucci in the disco era. Every Gucci collection should have a clutch.

The Dionysus and the Marmont will be discontinued at some point. They could also be brought back. That's Gucci. Almost every time I take my Babushka (available for ONE season) out, I'm offered double what I paid for it new. Gucci is not really a brand for people who only want to fit in, it's for people who enjoy fashion.

If you love the Dionysus or Marmont then try them on and go for the one you love most. No one knows what the future brings.

Still the the Britt/Blondie bags from the Tom Ford era are some of the best!
