Which do you prefer and why: Birkin or Kelly?

It depends on the outfit I’m wearing and the color of the bag. Some outfits look better with a Kelly and other outfits look better with a Birkin. Also, some colors are better as a Kelly while others are better as a Birkin. For example: I always see light blue and light green colors as Kellys, but I see dark blues and greens as Birkins. Reds, browns and neutrals can be either.

Funny that you mention dark blues & green are a better option for Birkins.
I happen to own a shade of blue in an exotic & a dark green in box both of which are Kellys
so one's perception of which colors look better in Kelly/Birkin is interesting.
I think Kelly/Birkin work with most outfits but depends on how you "rock it" & like both bag styles
from jeans to suits (depending upon size might make a difference)

I love and appreciate the beauty of both bags but I’m a mom of 4 teenagers and the Birkin fits more into my casual busy lifestyle so that’s the bag I wanted and recently purchased!

I love both and they work great for different situations. I prefer the birkin for its casual vibe, it is after all a tote. I love the Kelly for a more “ladylike” look (though I carry it with jeans as well) and I rarely shoulder carry.

i am a birkin girl. simply because of no fuss access. i own 2 kellys and i don't like the look on shoulder so when i rarely use it, it is always hand held. i am especially troubled with kelly accessing for my cel phone so i end up carrying it in my hand and another holding the kelly, dah!
Lol same... I thought the Kelly would be perfect for me, handsfree bag for two young kiddos.. but no. It’s a little too awkward to get in and out of... I use it with my evelyne strap crossbody.. which looks alright I guess.. but not the look I was hoping for in my mind... much prefer the B.. but then again.. in my daily life my evelyne tpm is my go to bag these days... thinking about a mini Kelly perhaps.. I feel like I would get a lot of use out of it..

Interesting! What color is your Birkin?

Do you think the attention it attracts is because it's yellow (assuming you're talking about the one in your profile picture)? Do they know it's a Birkin and that's why they're staring,? Or are they staring because it's a beautiful yellow bag? Genuinely curious because I just purchased a yellow Birkin too.

I have a few classic neutral colours I use everyday, I recently added my Yellow one, yes people know its a Birkin, they will stare some will talk loudly about the bag, I just look at them and smile, or simply say thank you! when they compliment the bag. For example one time I was walking in a shopping mall, and this man stopped me and said I just want to say I love your bag, he said I cant wait to tell my wife that I have seen the that bag you always wanted in real life and its beautiful. He was genuinely interested he asked a few questions about how I got it and how much I payed for it.

Birkin Birkin Birkin!!! 35 is the perfect travel bag. 30 is the perfect everyday bag. Date nights, take the 25. I cannot be bothered to open and close the Kelly every time I need to grab something, it’s also way too formal looking, and I don’t like the look of it with the strap. Birkin is so chic and casual. I bought he Birkin for the status, but I can’t get over how amazingly practical it is! I have a few Birkins, want to add one more, but I don’t think I’ll ever add the Kelly. Too expensive for a collectors item as I know I would always choose the Birkin over the Kelly to use.

Question for you to ponder. If one does not use kelly’s strap, why consider the mini? Why not opt for the KP? That said I am tall and the strap that came with the Kelly I cannot carry it cross body. It is not long enough. Perhaps the strap on the mini is longer. I have never see the mini IRL so it is likely most folks are shorter than I, the strap to the mini is longer. If so, the question is a moot one.

This is a great question. My thought process is.. the Kelly 25 (sellier) is quite boxy and to wear it on shoulder and crossbody is awkward. The mini Kelly is much smaller, I would hardly notice it on. I wear my mini evelyne like crazy because it’s the perfect size for me. I only carry 3 things in my bag (mini bearn wallet, keys, phone) .. It would also be good for time when I need to carry my kids bags because it’s so small and out of the way kinda like a Chanel WOC

Ive seen the mini K in person on someone else.. i think would be able to carry it crossbody if I wanted to.. I’m 5’6 small-ish build..

The only thing stopping me is whether getting in and out of the bag would be too annoying for me.. but then again it’s so cute, and I could use it for more formal occasions as well..

I have just in the last year or so turned into a Kelly girl. I’ve had two Birkins and sold them both as they just don’t fit my lifestyle anymore (I travel a lot for work and pleasure) and wanted bags with a shoulder strap. I really like the feel of being hands free. The Kelly allows me to still feed my H obsession while also not feeling bound to actually “carrying” a bag

I just got a mini K and love it. I’m 5’6” and I cannot get away with crossbody unless I add a twilly extender—then it works perfect! I actually carry mine open and it’s super easy to get in and out of. It’s so stiff noting falls out.
Besides the mini K, Birkin girl through and through!
